Italian Guy Giovanni, Emporior Armani, EA Collection leather Jackets Italian Guy Who Asks for direction to Lincoln Tunnels with New Jersey Plate Numbe |
10th of Oct, 2011 by User216484 |
An Italian guy driving a white Jeep with New Jersey plate number asked me for direction to Lincoln tunnel on the corner of fifth Avenue and 26th street on 10/10/2011. After that he told me he would give me a gift of three Armani Jackets as he need to fly to return back to Italy that night. He works for Giorgio Armani in Italy and his money was stolen at the club and he need to pay for the rental car when he gets to Airport. He showed me his passport and ticket say that to give him $500 to cover his cost and will give me the 3 jackets. I told him i don't have any cash and felt sad that he acted so distress so i told him, i can go home since i don't live far and i can scrap to give you $250 and when you get to Italy call me so we can find a rightful buyer for your jackets since i wouldn't like to rip anyone off just b'se he has lost his money. I was actually thinking of giving him the money without taking his jackets, but he insisted that he will have to pay taxes if he take the jackets back to Italy. I began to be suscpicious as he was changing his stories from working for Gorgio Armani to a businessman. But i was determine to help the guy, So I gave him $260 and there he goes. Fortunately, he is on my building camera from the point he came into the building, inside Elevator and leave the house. After he left I went online to see if he is not a scam Artist. I could not believe reading the same story from other people who came across this guy. The question is, should i report this guy as he is clearly captured in our building camera and probably he is a known scam artist and deserve to be in NY1. He takes advantage of people good faith for his greedy and selfishness. Not knowing that that is not a way to make a living, scaming people. |

The same guy in white Chevy SUV, calling himself Italian, working as a designer for Armani, asking for direction to JFK in Brooklyn, showing Italian passport, Hertz rental papers. Sold me 6 jackets for $700 and a watch as a bonus. Same story about getting back to Italy, didn't want to pay taxes on clothing, wanted to buy I-pad. |

Can't believe i'm reading these posts. So today...in San Diego, CA a guy pulls up to me in the Whole Foods Parking lot UTC. Same story...very thick italian accent, skinny - Prada size, and driving a rented black Mercedes ...needs to know how to get to the airport as he just go done with an Armani Emporium show in La Jolla. After I gave him directions he thanks me for being so nice and proceeds to ask my size eg. medium? large?. He then proceeds to get out of the car and show me all these leather Jackets. The Jackets are left over from the show in La Jolla. He's got the official looking big black cloth etc...Gives me his business card stating that he is a manager for EA and he lives in Capri. I told him I really didn't need another leather jacket and he says "no problem, here take them anyway" ..."do you have a wife or girlfriend?" I try the leather jacket on and it fits well..new, tags, all looks official. He also mentions and has a good story about how he will have to pay 12% tax to bring them back to Italy. I told him it didn't quite make sense as he brought them to this country. He literally walked away twice thanking me for giving him directions and went to get in his car. But, then at some point he stopped and turned to me and aksed if i had any kids...maybe they might want a jacket...then mentioned that his daughter's birthday was in a couple of days and he wanted to get her an iPad. Anyway, he then proceeds to tell me he has all these expenses and his daughters birthday was the next day and wanted to buy her an iPad as he is gesturing now to put all 4 jackets in the trunk of my car. He says; " maybe for the 4 jackets i could help him out with buying the iPad which is going for roughly $600. i told him i didn't want the jackets, and he proceeds to ask me to open the trunk and he will put them in and just give them to me. Like many others I thought well if these are all that expensive the whats a couple hundred. I forgot to look for the Apparel Tag number and cleaning instructions tag on the inside of jacket. Though the lining looks official with the Armani name embedded in it, on closer examination the big label at the neck of the jacket is fake. uuuggghhh so I went to give him back all the jackets as I "didn't have the money" and he kept telling me to keep them "it's ok" as he appreciated my help, and he thought as a gesture maybe i could now help him out by giving him maybe $100 for each jacket that usually goes for $1000+. Because he was Italian, talked and thought very fast, had a plan that was very smooth and difficult to detect, it all seemed about 90% legit, I caved and gave him $300 for 3 leather jackets. They look very nice and very expensive, but it's the whole idea of reflecting on what just happened today. Probably my own fault and should have just said; "glad to be of help, I don't need anything today. C'est la vie...ciao! |

April 5, 2013
An International Model named Salvatore C., home address in Milano, Italy, approached me in a Super a Market Parking Lot in Edmonton/Alberta/Canada and asked for Directions to the Airport.
In exchange for my "kindness" he wanted to give me 3 "authentic"Armani Jackets with a Value in excess of
$ 3000, free of charge; he claimed that the Duty to bring them back to Italy would be too expensive.
When I asked him what the Catch is, he said, there is no Catch but he needed some Cash to buy a Present for his Bambino in Italy; he showed me a picture of this little Boy and his attractive Wife and said that I could stay
in his Home anytime I want to. I am a Senior on a fixed Pension and have learned many years ago that nothing in Life is free and there are a lot of Scam Artists out there. When I asked him what he really wanted, he said that for $ 400 I could keep all the Jackets which he had put in a really nice Shopping bag with Italian Printing all over. It all looked real and I can understand how some people would fall for this. I continued to play his game for a while, when I told him that I only had $ 50 in my wallet, he said that this is only enough to buy a few chocolates, he reduced his asking Price to $ 200 and asked me to go to an A.T.M.
Machine to withdraw $ 400; I told him that there is no Money in my Bank account and that he could keep his
"Gifts" and forget the whole thing, he thanked me very politely for my kindness and drove away.
I guess that there is a Team of these People trying the same thing on unsuspecting People, they obviously target Seniors and now they found their way into Canada. REMEMBER; nothing is ever Free in Life and don, t fall for these Stories. |

I saw the same guy in Brampton, Ontario today. He was offer 4 jacket for $500. He was in a black mini van and says needs money to pay for his rental car. He showed his password and plane ticket. |
|
|
Got scammed today in Los Angeles. On the parking lot of Vons on the PCH...
He was in a grey Jeep (4x4 Laredo) - licence plate 6VBK568
I saw just after an older man with him in the car when he left
Beware! |
|
|
Same story happened to me today in Newport Beach, CA. I was at a gas station at PCH and MacArthur. He asked directions to the airport, asked me what I do, what my size is, and said today is my lucky day. Showed me three coats, two leather and one suede. He then asked me about my wife, and tried to give me a ladies leather coat as well. His English got progressively better as he went along. He told me it was soon his son's birthday, and he wanted an iPhone. He needed $700. I told him I was not interested in giving him any money and if that meant he didn't want to give me his "gift, " so be it. He told me "caio" and turned his back to me. I left.
Only after leaving, driving down the street did I start to realize it was probably all a scam. And then I came here. Wow. |

Just got scammed by an Italian fellow in West Vancouver, B.C today. Driving a white BMW X1. Claimed to be Armani sales rep and didn't want to pay tax at the airport. I paid him $300 for two jackets. He even showed me a passport and boarding card. Shame on me for being so ignorant to the signs. If I find this guy, it won't be a good scene! |
|
|
Just got scammed by an Italian fellow in West Vancouver, BC with the exact same story. Claimed he worked for Armani and had some extra stuff from a convention. He drove a white BMW X1 and needed money for a rental car as he had missed his flight. Had a business card which claimed he was from Milano, Italy. Showed me a passport and all. Wanted $800 for 4 jackets and ended up giving him $500. Turns out they are the same fakes. Shame on me for falling for it. If I catch this fellow, it's bad news for him! |
|
|
Like its been said, this guy is now in San Fernado Valley CA. Goes by Davide B and Deny B. Driving white Chevy SUV. I fell for the same story line. Got three men's and one women's jackets for being a fool. These fakes look decent, and I doubt they are leather but looks decent. |
