We were having some issues with our car's transmission, so we took it to Factory Direct Transmissions in Orlando FL. (big mistake!). We knew it was probably nothing major because we had just gotten the car checked out a few weeks prior from another shop we normally use. We however no longer live in close proximity to that shop. Before going in we saw their advertisement for a free diagnostic........... that was the main reason we went to them. We talked to Erik L. the manager, and explained our problem and told him we would have to leave the car with them. We asked him about the diagnostic and he said it was absolutely free, just like it's advertised. We told him we also wanted a written estimate before any work was done to which he replied "of course". We called back later that day and spoke to Erik again. He told us that they had been swamped and that they hadn't had the chance to look at it ........... that they would get to it tomorrow. We called the next day but couldn't get hold of Erik so we asked to speak to the president/owner (John R. Maszy), but was told he was not there either. Supposedly no one else there could help us. After calling all day we finally got hold of Erik at nearly closing time. Erik apologized and said that they had been really busy and that they were currently looking at it, and that they would call us in the morning. He called that afternoon and said that the repairs would be $1700. I told him "no, that's way out of our budget" and that I don't want them to do anything to the car and that we would be down there soon. When we got there Erik told us if we didn't want the repair we would have to pay $400 for the diagnostic work. We quoted their policy, and he just shrugged as if to say whatever. After allot of back and forth, Erik became hostile and condescending. In essence, he was a complete jerk! He told us he was busy, that he didn't know anything else, then said he had nothing more to say. He also advised us to talk to the owner, John Maszy the next day.....that he would also give us the written estimate. It's funny how they were always claiming they were busy but in the couple times we were there......... there was only a couple of cars. We came back 8:00 am the next day and talked to John Maszy, who in turn said they had already done work to the car and that it was almost completed. Also that the final bill would be over $2000. I almost had a heart attack. We explained that we did not give the okay to do any work and we were never given a written estimate. Mr. Maszy said there's basically nothing he could do and went into this rant about how we were getting a good deal. Basically we would just have to pay the bill or else.......... no car. The car has not been right since they put their hands on it! I have NEVER dealt with a car repair shop this bad before in my life! I have found out (after the fact unfortunately) that they have done this to many people They even fake their own positive reviews. I have posted reviews about them on different sites because I've been so outraged over this. In doing so they have threatened and tried to intimidate me........... they even assumed that I was another customer and posted their private info which I assume they got from a invoice. They posted what they say is their name, ph. number and address and said all kinds of slanderous stuff about their alleged criminal record and personal life, etc. What reputable company does this? They are nothing but thugs and con artists. |
