At around April I came across Liberty Opportunities, when I was looking for a franchising company. At this point I had just lost my job in January. I contacted them via their website and got a call back from Mr. Dan Kostecky. We talked and I explained my situation to him. Mr. Dan seem to be a nice man on the phone and encourage me to get the deposit of $2900 sent to him so that they can get to work for us. I did not have any money and I told him that I would need to get my 401K closed so that I can send the deposit. I also explained to Mr. Dan that my credit situation is not great, he says to me, that they will help me all the way. I sent a cashiers check to Mr. Dan's attention via UPS with the purchase order form. Within a couple of weeks I received some information from him and then a copy of a business plan that was done for me. I was never aware or told that my $2900 will go towards the business plan and phone calls they will make on my behalf and was never aware that we would have to approach banks to request loans. At first I was told I would only need a loan of $54,900, then when I receive the business plan, I was made aware that I will be needing $80,000 to complete the process. At this point I proceeded to contact Mr. Dan, whom to this day, 11/27/11, I have not been able to reach, instead I get his son Paul who told me he is the one I should be speaking to, because everything goes to him. I have been very discouraged and disappointed because I felt like I have been scammed, even though Mr. Dan knew that I had lost my job in January and I have nothing else to depend on, but to get the store up and running. I have had several roadblocks, trying to acquire a loan from several banks that I was told to contact. I have been rejected by all of them, saying that they don't finance new businesses, which I was not aware of in the beginning of my transaction with Mr. Dan. I am asking for actions to be taken against this company because it seems like they prey on others, even though they know what peoples situations are. I found another complaint on your site, that is very similar to mine. Please let me know if I can get any help from you all. It is time to stop Liberty Opportunities from scamming others, who might have found themselves in this situation. I don't have a job and I am in a desperate situation to get my money back from them, because I don't think this is going to work. Thank you in advance for your help.
