AT&T Connectech Service scam No Help, No Compassion! Dallas, Texas

If you want to waste $15.00 a month or just feel like taking your hard earned money and setting it on fire, then AT&T Connec Tech Service is for you! I had an Internet problem and called the usual AT&T number for help (1-877-722-3755). After having me do all the things I had already tried, the rep told me he was going to put me up to a higher service. Hold time was long and I kept wondering what was going on. He then had a solution. Pay $15.00 a month for one year. Well, not realizing that the charge would appear on the phone bill, I said okay. At this time I was desperate to get help. I waited until someone else came on and it was another tech person. All the time, I am wondering why they hadn't asked for payment methods. Long story short, the tech was not able to help; he had me do the same things the first tech did, to no avail. His next option to correct the problem? FORMAT the hard drive. Can you believe that? He commended me on my knowledge about computers, told me to call after the format and then they would help me get back on DSL. Duh! What do you mean FORMAT!? In order to fix the problem, I simply re-installed Windows and viola, problem fixed. As for getting back on the Internet, I did that myself. NO help from AT&T Connect Tech. Now, why should I have to pay for something that I did not get any benefit from, nor will I use that service in the future. I called AT&T to ask them please go remove the monthly fee, and that I would be happy to pay a one time charge for the call, even though they were unable to fix the problem and even recommended losing all my information by formatting. First of all, I did not authorize them to place a monthly charge on my phone bill. Had they specified that payment method, I would have turned it down. Second, I am a widow on disability and have a limited income. I rent, so paying a extra $15.00 for a service that proved to be useless makes no sense. Third, yes, they said they would terminate the contract at the cost of $110.00!! This for something I will never use. I even offered to pay $50.00 for the one-time call, (which they didn't offer to me) and they still refused to budge. (Okay, I already mentioned the one time charge offer; however felt it needed to be reiterated.) They let me speak to a supervisor, (ha, ha) and he had no compassion or sympathy even when I told him that I would have to discontinue other services I had with them in order to offset the cost. So, at this point, the cell phone had to go. AT&T doesn't care about you, the customer. All they care about is trying to get more of your money. They will hood-wink you into buying something you don't need. If you call the regular number for help on your DSL connection, please, please, do not agree to anything they say! The whole situation was terribly confusing. Honestly, I didn't realize what was really going on. If you like paying for inept help, and paying a premium for it, then this service if for you. Bottom line: It is a waste of your time and resources to call these people. Your wallet and possibly your hard drive will be emptier. AT&T and their Connect Tech Service is a farce. At this point, I loathe AT&T and their services. AT&T... a company with only one objective, separating you from your money! $15.00 dollars a month, $15.00 dollars a month, $180.00 a year! Poof!
