World Access Translations WorldAccess Translations, WorldAccess run around, provided unusable document Las Vegas, Nevada
23rd of May, 2011 by User504289
I contacted World Access Translations via their website on May 6th regarding certification and correction of my foreign issued/english translated marriage certificate. I specifically told them that the document had already been translated into english, that it had been notarized, and that they spelled my last name incorrectly (used a V instead of a W in the translation). I asked what it would cost to have the translation reprinted and certified with the correct spelling... literally only one letter different, so all they would have to do is proof read it (less than 20 lines, most had only 4-6 words on a line) and then retype it correctly with my last name spelled right, stamp it and send it.
I was told that this would be only $27.50 to get a one page certificate, proofread, certified, and notarized. I was told I would get a copy mailed to me. They received a copy of the document prior to giving the quote, and knew exactly what I was asking for. They told me that a scanned copy of my original document was all they would need. I paid on the 6th of May for the certification/notarization/correction to my document.
On May 18th I contacted them to ask why I had not received anything, and why it was taking so long to correct one letter and stamp my document. A reply came stating that it would be ready by the 19th or 20th. On the 20th I received an email instead stating: "our records show that your funds were reimbursed. As per our agreement, the document was only to be proofread, certified and notarized. The document we received from you was a scanned image, had foreign text and required a complete retype of the document. The fee for this service would have been far greater
then the $27.50 paid. Accounting has confirmed the refund. The funds will be available to you within two business days."
I was clearly upset, as they had told me that the scanned copy of the document would be fine and that it was all I needed to send. I was also told that this would be considered proofreading, certification and notarization... with the correction of only 1 letter. No other editing was required. They knew this prior to providing a quote. I wrote back that I don't want my money back, I want what was promised. Then on May 22nd they sent me an email saying they would leave out the certification of the original document (basically rendering my marriage certificate useless) and provided me a scanned copy... which is not acceptable anywhere! I was supposed to have them just correct that one letter, and restamp it with their stamp in addition to everything else on the page. Now I have a scanned copy of a document that doesn't even provide legal certification for my marriage.

Good Afternoon Raechele. The original request you had was to adjust the misspelling of your name, certify and notarize the English version. See below

I have managed to finally scan my original and translated version of my Azerbaijani marriage certificate and the translation that misspelled my last name. My last name on the date of marriage was Watkins NOT Vatkins. Could you please give me a price quote for how much it would cost to give a certified official translation with my name spelled correctly? I'm hoping it won't be too expensive, as we are hoping to have more than one copy (just in case of emergencies!)

When my translation staff reviewed your document to retype it on our letter head, certify and notarize it, they noticed that there was a second page with the Ministry of Justice notary and seal authenticating the original document. The original scan that you sent to us, clearly shows that this was a separate sheet of paper that you included with your document. There was no way we could authenticate that the certification belonged to your original certificate. You could have pasted it from another document. On the 6th and 8th of the month, we sent you emails letting you know that we could not continue with the project as we had doubts of its authenticity.

As you were getting upset, we did finalize your project but only with the information we knew to be true.
The original document had a seal on it and we clearly included that on your document. This would have authenticated the document and you can use it for all legal purposes.

We are a certified translation company. We will not certify and notarize a translation unless we know that the original data is true. In this case, the certification could not be verified and was not part of the original document. We have translated thousands of Azerbaijan documents and all did not have this certification.

The original document had a seal and signature of authority. This is all you needed and it was present on our translation

Your statement Raechelle is inaccurate and caused harm. You should be ashamed of yourself. We translate documents for thousands of immigrants that are looking for reasonable fees and good translations. We do a great job with all of our clients, but will not ruin our integrety for $27.50.

USCIS, domestic and foreign government agencies and other agencies needing your translated documents recommend our services as we provide a quality translation at reasonable prices. These agencies know us and can vouch for our certification. It is 100% accepted and respected as true and accurate.
