WorldMark by Wydham WRD Trendwest Resorts Classical bait and switch scam to sell a timeshare Orlando, Florida
16th of Nov, 2010 by User836650
We attended a marketing event selling time shares in Las Vegas. The event was held at 8601 South Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. This is the location of the Las Vegas WorldMark time share.

We told the sales rep that we were not interested in this location. We were interested in the Grand Desert which is conveniently located near the Las Vegas strip. We were assured by the sales rep that a 3 bedroom unit was available for the Chrismas Holliday at the Grand Desert. We wanted to purchase a time share so that we could get together with our family throughout the year since they live in other states.

We decided to purchase a time share based upon her assurances. The total cost was in excess of $18,000. We were assured that the unit was available and we were given the name of a contact person. We contacted that person and she reassured us a unit was available and she would call back with a confirmation number. We never received a call.

We contacted the sales rep who again assured us a unit was available and gave us a different contact name. The new contact person assured us that a unit was available and we would be called with a confirmation number. We never received a call.

We went back to sales location and met with the sales rep and her supervisor. Both assured us that a unit was available at the Grand Desert and we would be contacted with the arrangements.

Our sales rep contacted us and stated that a unit was available at 2 other locations. Both locations are in very undesirable areas and are nothing more than condominium units, not resorts. We told the sales rep that this was unsatisfactory.

We then received a call from her supervisor who told us that Grand Desert is part of RCI and requires a 10 month advance request and then you are put on a waiting list.

At this point, we were fed up with WorldMark by Wyndham. We cancelled our credit card and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

At the time of purchase of the timeshare, we were intentionally mislead by the sales rep and her supervisor. Promises were made to us, that they knew could not be met. Since they knowingly mislead us, they misrepresented information that is necessary to make an informed consent on any purchase. We feel that the time share contract is null and void. The time between the purchase and our decision to terminate our contract was approximately 2 weeks.

We would appreciate any feed back on this organization and would willingly accept any constructive course of legal action that we could take.

We also want to warn any person unfamiliar with Las Vegas, that WorldMark by Wyndham may try to steer you to several undesirable locations that in no way resemble a resort.
