RK CHEVROLET/FAMILY MOTORS They have been deceptive in their financing practices. They said they pulled my credit report but they didn't. Virginia B

I have had the most horrible experience with these companies (Family Motors/RK Chevrolet). The two companies are one company, so it appears, working together. You may buy the car from Family Motors but RK Chevrolet owns it. I purchased a car from Family Motors; they said they pulled my credit report. They lied. They lock in other fees that you may not need (i.e., GAP, service contract). Beware! These salespersons are crafty with one goal in mind - to sell you their cars that may have undisclosed mechanical problems and some cars have broken down slightly after the warranty ends. So, you pay a high price for the car, not even comparable to the book value, the car breaks down a little after the warranty ends then you are left to pay to have it fixed. The quality of the car I bought was shabby. I have heard other and similar stories about these companies. If you or anyone you know that may be filing a lawsuit against these companies please respond. I know of at least ten to fifteen people that have been wronged by these companies because of their deceptive, manipulative, and crafty practices in selling you a car. It would be nice to see someone come forward and file a class action suit against them, if possible. If you must purchase from them be careful of a few things: If you go to one of their lots (especially Family Motors) they may tell you that they are going to pull your credit report. Ask for proof that they did indeed pull the report. Ask for the carfax on the car. This helps you to check for accidents, repossessions, and major problems with the car. If you live in Virginia the GAP insurance is not mandatory (to my understanding); although, they may tell you that it is. They make money on everything they sell you. It appears that they are double dipping. They sell you the car, then they sell you other stuff that you may not be able to use, especially when they sell the car note to another company. Also be very careful with purchasing from Family Motors because the salespersons tell you that if you purchase from them you can build your credit. This is a lie. It has been my experience as well as others that they don't report it to the credit bureaus. They report it after about three years after you have paid for the car in full. That is not building credit. Definitely check the bluebook value before purchasing from them. They make money on a car over and over again by charging 3 or more times over the value of the car. For example, if the value of a car is actually $2,000 they could charge you $6,000, $7,000 or more for that $2,000 car that potentially may have undisclosed problems. They can be very tricky, crafty and deceptive about everything they do. Keep all of your receipts. The orange boot does not come with your car; but, they have been known to put boots on people's cars even when they have paid. Beware! They have been known for years to take advantage of people. I wished someone would have told me about their deceptive and manipulative practices before I purchased a car from them.
