My wife and iI financed a used mobile home from oakwood mobile homes in 1999. The price was 25 thousand cash but with 12 year financing it came to 50 thousand. vanderbilt mortgage company bought out oakwood finance company and assumed the loan. we already paid 8 out of the 12 years of financing. vandanbilt finance sent me a letter stating we had no mobile home insurance and that they were going to add the cost of their insurance to our monthly payment . we always had our own mobile home insurance on the trailer for eight years straight and never let it lapse. we called the vanderbilt offices back and told them we had insurance in place. they told us that we did not and we even got our insurance rep to send them a fax that stated we had insurance in place always. they continued to tell us we did not and went up on the monthly payment and we could not afford so the mobile home was repossed and resold quickly at a hefty profit. these people are crooks that will do anything to stay in business and do anything to get more money from you or reposses your home. they know when you are struggling to make payments and go up on your payment and sell you their insurance which they know you cannot afford. we still have no home to this day and are living with my mother in a very small home that does not fit everyone. the rich will stay rich by taking advantage of the middle class and the poor. do not deal with these people. they are rude over the phone and you will regret it in the long run.
