Van Horn/ Dodge Plymouth Wisconsin Service Department Beware of wrong diagnosis and expensive, unecessary repairs Plymouth, Wisconsin |

Towed my truck to Van Horn Dodge in Plymouth. They called the next day and told me that after three hours of diagnostic testing that me ECM had failed. ECM cost would be 1200.00. With labor my bill would be in excess of 1500.00. I asked if I could find my own ECM. They said yes. (The have allowed this in the past.) I called back to get the part # at which time they said, "get your truck off the lot." I asked why they were refusing service. He said they didn't want to take any chances the truck wasn't fixed properly. I asked why, if they put in a new computer, what possibly could go wrong. He answered that they weren't really sure the ECM was the problem. I asked who was going to pay for a 1200 computer if that isn't really the problem. He answered that that is why they wanted me to take my truck somewhere else. When I arrived to have the truck re-towed I noticed the tires were in the exact same position as when it was taken off the tow truck. The truck was towed to Sheboygan Chrysler located 15 miles from Van Horn. Sheboygan Chrysler was very accomodating. After one hour of diagnostics, Sheboygan Chrysler told me the lift pump in my vehicle had failed - there was nothing wrong with the ECM. I called Van Horn back and asked how they could spend three hours running diagnostics, come up with the wrong problem and try to bill me for 1500.00 worth of parts and labor. I said, "You never looked at my truck did you." His answer was, "It's nice out. Maybe they worked on it outside." He said that they weren't going to charge me for the diagnostics. I told him that I had a problem with the fact that they were going to, and if I hadn't questioned them they would have gone ahead with these repairs that were unecessary. His answer was "So what if I have my head up my ass." To make a long story short - do you really want people that admit they don't know what they are doing, and are willing to charge you for it, work on your vehicles? Take your business to Sheboygan Chrysler - apparently their service manager doesn't have is head up his #@!
