Truck Stops Of America Thomas O'Brien CEO TA Truck Stop of America, Thomas O'Brien CEO Holbrook,, Arizona |

Thomas O'Bien CEO decided to black off as much as ten badly needed truck parking spaces in his "truck stops" for VIP parking. He charges drivers to park in those spots when his truck stop gets full at night. Basically, he takes advantage of drivers who are tired and need to sleep. These are exhausted drivers whom cannot drive any longer by law and must shut down and park. Not to mention that these divers work for trucking companies that spent over 100 million at TA Travel Centers last year. Never mind, that drivers spend money in his C-store and restaurants. Most of all, the drivers he is charging to park barley make a couple of hundred dollars a week after expenses. Truck stops provide free parking for drivers because trucking companies are doing business with them. Drivers cannot afford to pay for parking. They are not reimbursed for that expense by their companies. Here is what I suggest. I think Thomas O'Brien should pay for parking at his house and for showers each morning like his customers do. I think he needs to pull the four-leaf clover out of his pompous, greedy ass and be forced to drive a truck for a year, so he can understand how hard it is for new divers to make a living. This is a deeply sad day when a good truck stop chain with truly excellent customer service descends into darkness and joins the "screw truckers" club. For the record, this is not an idea the "TA" employees thought of nor is it an idea they actually like. Thomas O'Brian's "pay to sleep" idea has created a back lash for TA employes in that drivers are complaining about being charged for parking when it should be free. Thomas is a great example of what we have been saying for years now. The American truck driver is doing the work, and everyone else is getting paid. I might suggest this to drivers who are reading this article. The "VIP" parking at the TA truck stop would be a great place to toss your pee bottles on the ground. I am just saying. "V.I.P." They are asking for Very Important Piss. Let's help them out with a little guys...
