Shamrock Towing robs a young family of half their weekly pay check Columbus, Ohio
8th of Oct, 2011 by User191574
My fiance and I had a baby and moved out of our parents house at the ages of eighteen years old. Therefore we rarely get out much to enjoy evenings together since we are putting hours into working to work, school or taking care of our son. One evening our neighbor who plays in a band invited us to go watch him play at Bernie's Distillery. This sounded fun so we planned on watching our friend play and enjoying our night in the city of Columbus. It was an Ohio State game day and being that we were downtown Columbus parking was difficult to find. We had driven around for about ten minutes and find a spot close to Bernie's in a back ally parking lot. My fiance and I were excited that we could get out of the car and enjoy the evening. We watched our friend play his show and were returning to our car when we discovered it went missing. My fiance yells out that our car has been stolen and someone across the ally says it was probably towed. He then compares the towing company to vultures describing how they drive around the city just looking for cars to tow. We then notice on sign that I would say is the same height as a computer screen with half of the width on a telephone pole none the less with Shamrock's telephone number and saying to get your car back it costs $90 to be towed and $12 for every hour it is in the parking lot. I then called the towing company and received the information that my car was there and the address of where they were located. We then returned to Bernie's to see if someone could help us out. We ironically ran into one of my fiances old neighbors who explained that where Shamrock was located was a dangerous neighborhood. He proceeded to give us a ride to Shamrock. When i went to arrived at Shamrock I expected that they would be somewhat reasonable people being that they run a business and who doesn't wants the rep of doing dirty work, none that I know of. Apparently Shamrock doesn't care, the employee working hands me a bill that reads $145. Remember I work for my dad full time at a small business raising a family, so I don't have a lot of extra cash. Luckily I had just enough money to get my car out of the impound. I feel that the business Shamrock Towing does should be illegal. They are essentially waiting for people to leave their cars and stealing them when the owner leaves the area and making you pay to retrieve your own car that you paid for. I would say thats terrible business in itself but to make the experience more fun they don't put a big sign up saying DO NOT PARK HERE instead is a little sign often hidden from view. Because why would anybody park in a spot they know their car will get towed? They wouldn't! Therefore, Shamrock would not make any ill gotten money. Dog eats dog world isn't it?
