| Siber Systems - Roboform Software Roboform Lifetime Updates To Roboform Software No Longer Being Provided Internet |

| In 2004 I purchased 2 Desktop PRO lifetime licenses of Sibers RoboForm software. Their sales page advertised FREE Upgrades which may be verified on the web archive page at - http://replay.waybackmachine.org/20041104043400/http://www.roboform.com/why-pro.html I began have some problems with the software in March 2011 and recalled that I had not received any updates recently so I visited their site and saw that there was a brand new version number 7 available (my current was 6 something) so I downloaded it but shortly after I began using it I began getting pop ups about paying for a subscription. I revisited their website and found that were now operating on an annual subscription basis and apparently Version 6 was the last one that lifetime free update license holders would receive. I attempted to contact them by phone and was on hold for 30 minutes and no one picked up so I used their website contact system and provided them with my original receipt information as well as the above web archive link showing their original advertising of FREE updates. Their reply was to basically offer me a "ONE" year of the new version 7 and no reference to the fact they had broken their original advertising agreement. This was their basic reply: "As a valued and a long time customer we can offer you a free year of RoboForm Everywhere or a free copy of RoboForm 7 Pro Desktop. For a list of differences between RoboForm 7 Pro Desktop and RoboForm Everywhere, please visit" --- (they gave me a download link for the Version 7) and the only other sentence in their reply was - Please let us know your preference. I have not activated this one year option yet because I have read that by doing so I would have to agree to relinquish my rights from my original purchase. Many other Roboform/Siber Systems customers have posted complaints in various forums thoughout the Internet which may be found by typing "Roboform sucks" or other similar complaint type verbiage. I feel this warrants a grandfathering of ALL past customers who purchased PRO lifetime free update licenses and only charging new customers the new rates but apparently Siber Systems does not see it that way. |

| I agree with your post and just got off the phone. After a bit of complaining the offered the free one year upgrade. They know about their bait and switch maneuver and offer the free upgrade to get you to shutup and move you to their new license. Then you are screwed. Without approving they switched my license to V7 and said I could no longer use V6. I told them that I didn't want to be upgraded yet as I want to understand the full impact of the change (pros and cons). The response is you asked me to upgrade you so I did and we can't go back now. I quickly reminded them that I never gave permission and all of a sudden they found a way to revert my license to V6. This is ludicrous. If they are changing something, stand up and tell the truth, quit playing these stupid games! Currently I plan to stay with V6 even though some of the new features are helpful, I don't really want to support a company who threw ethics out the window. I wonder if we are going to see a class action suit anytime soon??? |
