I purchased a money order for 825.00 for my rent in December. I filled it out and sent it to my realtor company as always. Toward the middle of the month they called asking my why my rent hasnt been recieved yet. To make a long story short it got lost in the mail, somehow.
I immeadiatley looked for the number to call MoneyGram to see how to get a refund so I could pay my rent. Well the guy on the phone told me I had to wait another week before I could file a claim card. By this time my realtor company was furious and I had to pay another 825.00 out of my bank account.
After another week of not recieving the money order I called once again for them to explain to me I needed to file a claim card. I didn't understand why they couldn't stop payment on it, it was MY money from MY account and even though it hadn't been cashed, they refused to refund it to me.
I was crying on the phone telling the guy I needed my money, I have two kids and 825.00 is alot of money! He told me to fax in the claim card and they could make an exception and get it to me in three weeks. Still not happy with this I figured its better than nothing.
I went to the library, printed out the claim card, and filled it out clearly. I even made sure to check the overnight box, so when they did process it, it would get to me overnight. Then I faxed it to the number they provided me.
After waiting three weeks I was out of most of the money I needed to pay my bills because I had to pay rent a second time for that month. Being as fustrated as I was I called to see when I was going to get the check. I talked to someone who told me they werent sending it out untill jan 27 (65 days after I sent it out)
I argued with the woman telling her that I had spoke to someone else who said different. I also explained that this money came from my debit account and was paid for. Even though It was my money and I already payed for it she still argued saying she couldn't do anything.
Eventually I got transferred over to a supervisor who also refused to send it to me. She stated that it was policy, even though the money order was never cashed. They were not in any way loosing any money. They simply just needed to reinstate my check and send it off.
The "supervisor" still refused. There was nothing I could do but wait and hope I got it before my money problems got any worst. After all that (seemed like forever) I was barely affording paying all my bills, feeding my kids, and putting gas in the car.
On the 28th of janurary I called the company once again. I wanted to know why I still had not recieved the check because they told me Jan 27th and it was supposed to be over night. She simply said " I guess they missed that because it was not over night.
Well I waited for a few more days and FINALLY it comes in the mail (71 days later). I was kind of depending on getting the check to pay some things off. So when I read it the front of the envolope my last name is spelled wrong. Sure enough the name on the check different too! Making it nearly impossible to cash it.
I spoke to these people several times on the phone. Spelled out my name every time. Along with my address, money order tracking number, and so on. How could they possibly "forget" to over night it, and then make it almost impossible to cash?! This company is a scam. Beware. -nicole, cedar park tx
