Mighty Movers - Nick Hughes Horrible company. Changed our start time from 2pm to 9am then didn't show up until 2pm. Dropped my TV. Lousy service. A |

I hired this company because although they were priced much higher than two competing quotes I received, Nick Hughes was well-spoken on the phone and he convinced me that the quality and professionalism of their operation would make up the difference. I even told them I was hiring them because I liked his pitch. Sadly, the service we received was not the Mighty Movers presented on the phone. First, the confusion over the start time. They called the night before (last minute) to tell us our move would be starting between 2pm and 6pm, so I told some of our friends who were willing to come help us, that was the time. Then they called back an hour and a half later to say it was now going to be between 9am and 12 noon. I explained that this was inconvenient for us as we had already made plans with friends, and you insisted it was unavoidable. I had to go back and call our friends to tell them to switch to morning. In other words, we were getting lousy treatment because they had a cancellation. So after calling people back and getting them to switch to morning, the movers didn’t arrive at 9am or 10am, 11am, or even 12 noon. In fact 1pm rolled by and I had to call Nick several times to locate the crew, and eventually their crew leader in order to give him directions to McKinney from Frisco. Our move wasn’t started until 2pm, totally unacceptable in light of all the changes. The people who came to help us had to get on with their day so this inept moving business cost us embarrassment and cost them gas and time. Not only that, but I got to spend several hours in the heat at our storage unit waiting for them to show up. Nick boasted on the phone how his guys were going to shrink wrap items because they were astounding professionals, but they did no such thing. When they got to the house they placed things in the wrong rooms, didn’t set up the bed, etc. They discounted the job to $80/hr for showing up so late. We ended up paying $205 for the move and still gave the guys a small tip to cover their drinks for the effort. The dropping my Sony TV thing was just icing on the cake. Young guy was carrying it by himself and he let it fall 6" - 8" to the ground when setting it down. Ruined the tuner, and the audio is now distorted and overdriven.
