LA Fitness Unfair Sales Practices - Personal Training Leesburg, Virginia |
27th of Apr, 2011 by User566348 |
I signed up for Personal Training at LA Fitness. I have only used about a week and 1/2 of my personal training days. Since that time, the friend of mine I was doing the personal training with has shipped overseas (Afghanistan). In addition, a family member of mine lost her job so I have had to help her financially. I went to the LA Fitness Leesburg,VA location and spoke directly with the Personal Trainer (Carl) to let him know of the above events that occurred and that I wanted to no longer do the Personal Training. I made him aware of these event 2 weeks into the training signup (2/23/11). He stated a "freeze" would be placed on my account and I would no longer be charged for the Personal Training. The next month I noticed a $240 charge on my credit card for Personal Training. I went back to the trainer (Carl) and asked him why this charge occurred and he stated I needed to go through 2 billing cycles before the "freeze" on my account took place. Not trusting his word at this point, I did some research on my LA Fitness contract and the website and realized I could manage my accounts online. I logged into my account and noticed there was no "freeze" on my account. At this point I was quite mad, feeling that I had been lied to by Carl so I decided to cancel my Personal Training membership. LA Fitness stated that I now am obligated under contract to pay $240 a month for the next year for a service I am not using! I closed my LA Fitness standard gym membership and placed a block on my credit card to prevent further charges of any kind by LA Fitness. It should also be noted that when I met with Carl to discuss signing up for Personal Training I mentioned that I along wanted to sign up for a few months while my friend was in town. Carl stated "no problem, I got you" took my credit card information. I am very disappointed in this experience. LA Fitness is the nicest gym in Leesburg, VA and I would like to continue working out there but at this point I feel I have been lied to by LA Fitness Personnel (Carl) and do not trust their business practices. |
