I purchased a framing hammer and after hitting 12 nails I needed to pull out a nail that bent. The wooden handle collapesed at the head after just a light pull. It appears they do not use Hickory or Oak handles, but some unknown wood for their handles. I took it back to the retail store and they were reluctant to replace it because I did not have the receipt. Eventhough the hammer had the Pittsburg Tool Ogo and even the Harbor Freight showing the part number and price still on the hammer. After a few minutes the manager allowed me to swap out the hammer, this time I went with a fiberglass handle, and paid the slight differance. My point is, they are not like Sears Craftsman, Husky Tools, Cobalt Tools, SnapOn which replace the tool as long as they can see that it has their logo on it. They do not require a receipt, after all who keeps a receipt for twenty years. I took a 25 year old rachet back to sears because it was slipping, it was replaced no questions asked, no receipt required. Lifetime Warranties are only as good as the companies who honor them. |
