Emporio Collezione
Emporio Collezione (Smooth talking Italian men selling fake leather jackets) Old Bridge, New Jersey
1st of Jul, 2011 by User982386
Middle-aged Italian man with broken English pulled over next to my car in a red Ford Lincoln SUV near a WalMart to ask for directions. He wanted to know the location of a non-existent Italian clothing store. He claimed that he had not been in the area for over 6 years and feared the store may have closed down. He said he was in a rush to catch a plane back to Italy and that he couldn't bring his leather jackets onto the plane with him because of a restriction on his luggage and pulled out an official looking document from JFK to back up his statement. The man, whose name was Alfonso Russo, said he was from Italy and that he would be opening up a store in New York City in the following year and that he wanted to advertise his company, Emporio Collezione. He showed me three jackets and said they were real leather. He wanted to exchange one of his jackets for a gift for his mother in Italy whose birthday he was heading back for. Instead of selling each of the jackets that he said were worth $700, $800, and $800 dollars, he instead wanted to give them all to me to make good business and extended an open hand saying that I would always be welcome to drop by his house in Italy. He gave me his phone number, which he suspiciously had to withdraw from his own cell phone. As we continued talking, he told me to come down to JFK Airport in order to select the gift for his mother. After declining, he insisted that I pay him $170 as that would cover the entire cost of the gift. I did not have money on me and asked whether he was fine with driving over to an ATM machine where I could withdraw money. He then gave me his jackets to hold on to. He was completely fine with it and that set off my last alarm bell. For someone in a hurry to catch a flight to Italy, I would not be following a person through the streets of New Jersey in order to find an ATM machine. We drove out of the WalMart and he started following me. At that point, I realized that he was driving a rental car as the numbers on the license plate were in red lettering. I was able to get in touch with a friend of mine that then looked up the company that this guy was promoting and we realized it was a scam. It said to immediately notify law enforcement when you come across such an individual. I immediately got the guy's license plate number and called 911 as I thought this guy might attempt to do something aggressive after I refused to pay and gave him back his jackets. Police came and got our information, but honestly did not seem to care. They said the guy was free to sell whatever the hell he wanted, whenever he wanted to. I gave him back his jackets and the police got his information for the future. If I hadn't gotten the report online, I would have fallen victim to the scam. Emporio Collezione is not a real company and the jackets he was attempting to sell were not real leather and were probably worth much less than what he bargained for them.

ITALIAN FASHION - Emporio Collezioni SCAM in CANADA MARCH 31, 2012

This same guy approached my husband in the Costco Parking Lot in Port Coquitlam, B.C. May 11 2012. Asking for directions to the Vancouver airport. Then he tried to sell my husband a jacket for being so kind.

My husband did not have much cash so the guy suggested him to go to a cash machine. After looking at the product my husband declined.

Aldo was driving a rental car...

He gave us the same card.

Same guy ripped me off in Edmonton, AB today on June 7, 12. With the same story, making it so believable it was hard to doubt him. God this man is such a smooth talking a**h*** he ripped me and my dad off for $200 for 3 jackets. The jacket aren't bad, the quality isn't bad. However, the fact that he "scammed" me pisses me off. But, if anyone comes across the scumbag, make sure to report him. For the people getting the better deals of $200 below it's not that bad. But people paying ridic. amounts upto $800+ they need to be saved.

I'm sitting here laughing and smelling the kerosene like odor coming from my new coat my wife hung up last night to "air out". He who laughs, lasts, and my mirth is because I had one of these scammers driving A or the Blue Edge ask me how to get to Kennedy Airport from Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Virtual word for word. He even ran a flame from a disposable lighter over one jacket to show that it is not burnable plastic, just the real thing. I have lived most of my 80+ years here in NYC and one thing we survivors learn early is to not bullshit a bullshitter. I wore the bastard out, and he finally as he drove away, he literally threw a coat out the window for me to catch. "Are you happy now?" came out in the clearest English he had yet uttered. "Nope", I said, and he zoomed down Columbus Ave.

I thought that I might have hit the jackpot during the five minutes it took to get the coat home to my smart wife. She showed me one of her real Armani garments with the "V" in the logo in the opposite direction and the word "Armani" actually present.

Fortunately there is a"Housing Works" thrift shop across the street and around the corner and my next errand is to donate the jacket. They will get $50+ and aid their good works. I hope it doesn't stink up their store to much.

It just happened to me in Houston, Tx outside a Home Depot in Sugar Land. Italian guy asking for directions to the airport. Just did a fashion show at the Galleria and didn't want to take back all this jackets. He driving a white brand new Ford Escape. He showed me his wallet and Boss watch. He gave me his business card. It says:
Emporio
Edy D.
Manager
Moda Italiana
8010 Milano Via, Pascoli, 144 Italia MI
Tel: (0039) 44-45-77 Fax:(0039) 44-4578
[email protected] wwww.emporioarmani.com

He even gave me his cell (01139) 3318669243.
On his passport it said Eduardo De Napoli.
He asked for $1000 for 8 jackets. I told him I didn't have that kind of money. I ended up getting 4 good looking jackets for $200. Not that mad about the deal.

I was on my way to get a haircut, while walking in a Metro parking lot when this man in a black SUV called my attention. He said being lost and is in a hurry to get to the airport to catch his flight to Italy. I told him to take highway 403 and he even asked me if its east or west (I told him east). He even showed me an e-ticket of his flight, all I saw was AlItalia and his departure time. Then he get off his car and asked me some questions which made me suspicious, like what my job was (I told him I'm doing things here and there, not really an exact answer) then he asked me what my t-shirt size was. Then he said having jackets that he can't bring to Italy. From that point I knew something's not in place here. So I told him to get lost. Then he showed me that he has money (lot's of it actually, in 20 Canadian dollar bills, probably around 800-1000). I don't know why he showed me the money. Anyways, I walked away and I saw him sped off going to the direction of Hurontario. I think all the cash he showed me were from people he scammed that day.

Same thing happened to me today. Italian guy in new metalic red mini van, very pleasant guy stops to ask directions to the 405 freeway. We talk, friendship develops, I look italian he says, we spoke italien, he says his mother has the same profession as me, we hit it off. .. then he asks me my size... he says he works for armani, gives me a card and whips out 2 leather jackets and then a suit... Says they are from the 2012 Armani Collection and he wants to give me a gift... I felt bad, didn't want to receive a gift and I gave him $200. He asked me to give him something of my own that I love for him to keep as a souvenir to remember me by... Sounded a bit strange...my gut started feeling a bit uncomfortable...but I thought ... what the hell, the jackets were really beautiful... he was such a nice guy.. so I gave him a 1.00 made in chine cello bridge that I bought for a cello I don't play and it did not fit the cello to begin with, but I planned to exchange it for a better match... We hugged and I wished him a happy trip and then told him next time I would invite him for dinner... Oh well. we got scammed, and true, I felt a bit foolish and disappointed that he misled me...but... I love the jackets. And in the bag... I found a third jacket... so not a bad deal after all. I may buy again... jackets are pretty nice...

Home depot in Pharr Texas today...FUCKKKKK I’m not too sure if I got scammed but by the way u all are talking I’m sure I did.. Well he’s driving a white ford suv goes by the name Pasqual, even gave me a cell number and to call him if I were ever in Italy... 4 men leather jackets, asking like 300, I told him I didn’t have any money and that its like 103 degrees right now and said he would take anything because he was leaving back to Italy today and didn’t want to pay the taxes and he would rather give them away to a newly made friend then to throw them in thru trash. Well let me tell you, the jackets are very very nice and if they are really fake well they did a bad ass job in making them. I was going to give him 140 but I felt sorry and gave him 180 because I felt more in helping the guy. The fake leather jackets here go for over 150 each. Yeah yeah yeah he gave me a story about wanting to buy a Nintendo game for his kid but like I said those jackets look really well made. The stitch lines were so straight not like fake things are, it all looked perfect and the same length on both sleeves. He even took a lighter to one of them and the damn thing didn’t burn. Plus they fit perfectly. I’m kind of saddened that they might not be real but shit WHO can tell the difference? I’d buy more but for a lesser price of course. To tell u the truth I feel like I scammed the guy anyway. Oh well…

I just found out now from my mom doing the research that this is all fake . I got taken for $1200 for seven jackets . Same story, i can't believe this . I am from Edmonton Alberta . So much for helping people out these days . That guy better hope i don't run into him again . I don't even want to tell my story . Just shocked right now . Driving a red, midsize SUV . Did the airport / designer / college student / can't afford the %20 tax on them at airport ($3200 Canadian) and wants to give them to me as a gift . In return could i help him out with paying for his expenses while he was doing his 4th year designer internship week down in Canada . This was same as others in rental car, hotel ect... that came to around $1200. He gave me his information, email, showed me passports, five credit cards/ ID info, plain ticket, rental car recipes ect... I even called him out on this all seems shady and like he is a criminal doing scams . We actual joked about that . Hmmmm... I still can't believe this and i pray people read this and get to this guy before this happens again . My so called Italian guy was younger and claimed he was 25years old . about 5'7 a little bit fat / stalky . Maybe 165lbs . Thats it . Hope this helps

Dang IT!!! I was pretty sure this was a scam because parking lot sales out of the trunk of a car or van is always a scam. The well dressed Italian man wanted 1100 but would give me 3 other jackets for a gift. I knew at this point it was a scam but when I looked at the jackets and told him I only had 300 bucks he said no, then when I started walking back to my vehicle he said, wait, ok for you I will do this I'm in a hurry. This guy was not in a cheap car either, he was driving a new Mercedes sedan, guess the profits are good :-) anyway I did the deal because the jackets look very nice and for 75 bucks, , , , , I don't feel bad about the deal.

Got the same thing happened with a similar business card in Beverly Hills on 10/9/12. I was parked outside a building when an Italian Man in a blue SUV rental pulled up and asked me about how to get to LAX. He handed me a Giorgio Armani card with two names on them but only the first letter of the last name.

Here's the details on the card:

Giorgio Armani

Director
