Emporio Collezione (Smooth talking Italian men selling fake leather jackets) Old Bridge, New Jersey |
1st of Jul, 2011 by User982386 |
Middle-aged Italian man with broken English pulled over next to my car in a red Ford Lincoln SUV near a WalMart to ask for directions. He wanted to know the location of a non-existent Italian clothing store. He claimed that he had not been in the area for over 6 years and feared the store may have closed down. He said he was in a rush to catch a plane back to Italy and that he couldn't bring his leather jackets onto the plane with him because of a restriction on his luggage and pulled out an official looking document from JFK to back up his statement. The man, whose name was Alfonso Russo, said he was from Italy and that he would be opening up a store in New York City in the following year and that he wanted to advertise his company, Emporio Collezione. He showed me three jackets and said they were real leather. He wanted to exchange one of his jackets for a gift for his mother in Italy whose birthday he was heading back for. Instead of selling each of the jackets that he said were worth $700, $800, and $800 dollars, he instead wanted to give them all to me to make good business and extended an open hand saying that I would always be welcome to drop by his house in Italy. He gave me his phone number, which he suspiciously had to withdraw from his own cell phone. As we continued talking, he told me to come down to JFK Airport in order to select the gift for his mother. After declining, he insisted that I pay him $170 as that would cover the entire cost of the gift. I did not have money on me and asked whether he was fine with driving over to an ATM machine where I could withdraw money. He then gave me his jackets to hold on to. He was completely fine with it and that set off my last alarm bell. For someone in a hurry to catch a flight to Italy, I would not be following a person through the streets of New Jersey in order to find an ATM machine. We drove out of the WalMart and he started following me. At that point, I realized that he was driving a rental car as the numbers on the license plate were in red lettering. I was able to get in touch with a friend of mine that then looked up the company that this guy was promoting and we realized it was a scam. It said to immediately notify law enforcement when you come across such an individual. I immediately got the guy's license plate number and called 911 as I thought this guy might attempt to do something aggressive after I refused to pay and gave him back his jackets. Police came and got our information, but honestly did not seem to care. They said the guy was free to sell whatever the hell he wanted, whenever he wanted to. I gave him back his jackets and the police got his information for the future. If I hadn't gotten the report online, I would have fallen victim to the scam. Emporio Collezione is not a real company and the jackets he was attempting to sell were not real leather and were probably worth much less than what he bargained for them. |

United Arab Emirates Dubai
The Sammers are also here in action even two of my colleges have bean confronted by them but in Abu Dhabi and one of my co worker fell for them .

I told them just to follow the street straight ahead and turn left into Shaik Zahid Road which leads them to the airport.
The one man ask me from where I'm I said Germany so he started to croumble a few words in german and ask me that he is on the way back to Italy and he need to get off some clothes which he had at the expo at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi so he might pay high custom so he wanted to make a present to me.
At first I said I can't take it coz is to much no no he insisted just a present for you 3 suits 1 leather jacket for man and one for women so according to him i must have good now at around 7000 AED in my car.
In the same moment a car pulled into an opesite parking the gentleman lsiten to the conversation and shouted do not get ripped off they are sammers.
True he was as i replied well i can handle it then the Italian told me what he is talking about see I have money he open a bag at the back seat of his car and showed me around 40 to 50 Thausend AED so I pretended nothing happent so then he showed me an prospect of an laptop 5900 AED which i should get for him coz when he goes home his daugthers birthday so I replied yes if you want to buy then just go in the Mall there are a lot of shops he can get.

A guy came and asked my husband for direction as he needed to get to the airport right away. He introduce himself as Alfonso from Italy, a director of Armani Emporio Collezione and he will be in town for the whole week for a fashion related business. He was using a Budget rental car and invited my husband to come see him at Yorkdale Mall if he wants to check out his leather goods (jackets).
I guess the guy noticed that my husband is not big into fashion because he didn't know who Armani is LOL.. so the scammer ended up leaving without selling what he has in mind.

Same shit happened to me today in Surrey BC. a normal looking guy pulled up to my car with an italian accent asking for directions to the airport cuz he was heading back to Italy, & than he slowly started talking about having 5 jackets that he couldn't take back to Italy with him cuz he would have to pay a lot of taxes or duty on em. So I said no U don't, U don't have to pay that much. But any way, he said he will give me a present of 4 leather jackets if I bought 1 for the full price $600, I said no, I don't have $ right now, so he said ok U can take 1 for $80, after all the bullshit I ended up paying a $100 bucks for 2 jackets. I bought em cuz I liked the way they looked. & they look good on me & I thought that it was a good deal for 2 jackets. He even showed me his passport for some appearant reason. I told him that I was a dad & he said that he was also a father & showed me his daughters & wife's pic on his phone. He was driving a rental silver Dodge Caliber. Apparently he was a model heading back to Italy after a shoot. I should have known right then that something was a bit of, cuz this MuthaFucka was not model material. & I also was talking to him about how being a model is hard work & that it takes a lot of dedication & a lot of working out. U know? I was looking for his card so i could tell U what his name was but I couldn't find it. Like it matters anyway, his name was probably fake anyway. But I bought the jackets cuz I liked em so I was ok with the deal. I don't know why they have to pretend that they are Armani or something. just say it like it is & if people want it than they will buy em. U know??? |

happened to me just now, same history " Salvatore" showed me his rental car receipt $933.00 to pay it in exchange for the fake leather jackets.. damn Italians! GOOD THING I HEARD THE SAME HISTORY FROM A FREIND LAST SUMMER, the guy drives a blue suv rental Mitsubishi |
|
|
Salvatore was in a black Jeep SUV in the parking lot at Kipling and The Queensway with all the Emporio Armani jackets. It was the same deal as with other people who have met him. He is going back to Italy and is going to be charged 25 per cent by Italian customs. I was not in the market for leather jackets but I bought nine of them for $495. I thought they were genuine until I saw this site.
Still, that price for all those jackets, fake or not seems like a good deal! |
|
|
A mi tambien me transeo Leonardo la misma historia pero se ven bien 4 por 100 creo que si las vendo en 30 |

I don't see what the big deal is, if you're getting nice jackets for a good price for them, why not? They may be 'fake', but I must say, they are nice and comfortable. My father ran into this guy today saying the same thing. Got a few jackets for a very good price and brought one home for me too. With the way prices and taxes are rising in today's economy, it's definitely worth it. |

ITALIAN FASHION - Emporio Collezioni SCAM in CANADA MARCH 31, 2012
Well spoken guy by the name of Salvatore (well dressed man with Italian accent about 45 years old, slim with dark well groomed hair cut) caught me in the parking lot at Queensborough Shopping Mall in New Westminster, BC Canada, while I was in my truck speaking to a client. He pulled up beside me, staring at me, and waited until I finished my cell phone call. He immediately asked if I could speak Italiano. I said no. Then he stated he needed directions to Vancouver Airport. I gave that to him. Then he gave me a story about coming from downtown setting up a new store with his fashion line but had a number of samples he didn't want to take on the plane back to Milan, Italy. He said he would just give them away. He invted me into his blue rented mini van and said he would give the jackets to me but would I contriubute to his $1500 rented van cost. He showed me the rental agreement. He stated one jacket was worth $800 to $1000 each and he would give me all 6 of them because he didn't want to carry 2 large bags of samples on the plane. I was somewhat shocked, but he said if I could give him $1000 toward his rental car (retail for one jacket) he would give them to me. I really should have known better at this point but the packaging, labels and feel of the leather seemed very real, I asked if they were real leather and he said they were of the highest quality Italian leather made by his company in Milan. The brand was A/E by Emporio Collezioni. I told him to make the offer to the rental company, then he said well what would pay me for them. Stupid me, said all I have with me is $300 US, he himmed and hawed then I said I would go to $400 and he took it. I seriously believed this guy and gave him my business card and he gave me his:

When I got home I immediately went on the computer and typed in "italian fashion scam" and realized I had been taken by this little shit.
If any one has a similar experience you should get license number and immediately call 911, because if this guy(s) get caught by the wrong guy(s) next time they could be dead men walking. I believe these are gypsies who have been operating in the US and have now moved into BC Canada. Our laws are so lax they can get away with these types of crimes with impunity. These fraudsters are dangeous and should be placed behind bars before more unsuspected people are taken advantage of. By the way this scam is not like someone offering stolen goods for sale. I for one would never enterain such a purchase. These thieves are masters of their craft, catch you in a moment of weakness and play on your good heartedness and naivety to help them out. Remember nothing is ever for free, just a sucker syndrome. |

What a laff. This just happened to me last night in Sherman Oaks, California. The guy gave me the same story outside a Bank of America Ready Teller location...a gift for his 8 year old son. I thought well I have the 5 jackets in my trunk...possession of the goods ...so I felt right...I found that the Playstation or IPad he wanted was too expensive for me to spend my money on aftter taking him to Best Buy in the neighborhood ...and after all who needs five leather jackets. I put the jackets in the back seat of the Mercedes SUV that he was renting...he showed me the Hertz rental ticket for $1024...and wished him well. He was in a huff that I took up his time and did not go through with the exchange.
His red-white-green business card reads:
Salvatore
Manager

Emporio Collezioni
Tel: 01139.029636569
Milano, Italy
www.EmporioA.it
They were nice jackets but who needs all the hassle... |

The same exact thing happened to me in west L.A. On thursday I went to the Bank of America ATM about 7 pm. There were @ guys from Itlay, accents, the whole bit. I tried to give them back the jackets, and get away. They actually forced me to return to the ATM to get more money. I could not get away! I tried to get the money I had 200.00, But they forced me to give them more money. A total of 500.00 for 7 jackets. I was so upset. I didn't know what to do. The next day I checked online and I found all of these posts. I was in real shock. Nothing ever happened to me like this. I have been approched by many guys selling " Great Deals" from the backs of cars, trucks, etc. But this time with these two guys I felt much more than that. I felt if I didn't cooperate I would be beaten up. It was 2 of them againest me. I feel like such an idot. I couldn't even defend myself! I have had 3 back surgeries in the last year, and in the past I would have fought them. My wife said I did the right thing by giving them the money. Is there a way I can recoup my money? |

I just got 3 coats from Salvatore who was looking for directions to Toronto Airport from Mississauga, I gave him $140.00 cash which is all I had. He wanted me to buy him an I pad which I declined. He then wanted to follow me to an ATM for $700.00 cash fortunately I donot have an ATM card so i turned him down. All this time I was thinking I got hell of a deal until I googled and raed about all the people who have been taken. Really speaking even if they are fake 3 jackets for $140.00 not too shabby Sher (Mississauga, Ontario Canada) |

My father was scammed by this man yesterday afternoon. My dad showed me the jackets this afternoon and explained what happened. Immediately after he told me the story, I looked it up online because it sounded suspicious...I haven't told him yet. He was scammed out of $300 and we live in Mississauga, ON. |

Similar experience today (May 7/12) in New York. BMW X5 with NJ plates pulled up to the side of the street as I was walking along and a young man named Enrico in an Italian accent asked for directions to the tunnel. After giving him directions, he pulled out a business card showing a Milan address and said he had just finished a show for Emporio Armani, had leftover pieces, and did not want excess baggage or to have to deal with customs at the airport. He proceed to pull out a man's black leather jacket and asked me to touch it to feel how soft the leather and telling me it was a $2500 jacket, and after asking if I had a wife, showed me a woman's black leather jacket and telling me it was worth $1000. He said he wanted to give me these jackets as a free gift. I started to feel like it was a setup, but at the same time was tempted. The third time he said he wanted to give me the free gift he added "but maybe you could pay me a small amount". It was at that point that I stopped being polite, said no thanks, and immediately walked away. |
