Directv Unauthorized $600 Debt To My Checking Account Greenwood Village, Colorado |
18th of Apr, 2011 by User602870 |
I signed up for Directv in June of 2009. I was generally very happy with the first 5 months of service. Then basketball season came. I live in North Carolina and do my best to pull for the Charlotte Bobcats (yes you read that right, the Bobcats). The season started and I anxiously looked for the channel that showed the Bobcats in my area. So, I began to search the listings and found about 7 channels broadcasting them. With the free League Pass trial I was surprised to find that ALL Bobcats games we're blacked out. After around 6 calls to various Directv operators and 7 or 8 emails, I received three different answers: 1.The Bobcats are your local team so they're blacked out and you can only watch local stations. (not true) 2. You need to sign up for League Pass to get the games since you're so far from Charlotte. (not true) 3. We CAN show them in your area, but we have decided not to... (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) Yes 3 was true, but no one could tell me why they decided not to show the games. They just decided not to. Hmmm. Fast forward a few months I notify Directv that I want cancel my service and was informed that there would be a $20 per month early cancellation fee, so 4 months at $80 dollars. Then one of the "upper level" reps called and offered me $20 dollars off per month of 12 months, enticing but no. I had bought a Roku box, and was happy with what I was getting. I receive the equipment return boxes in the mail on April 14 th and by Noon the next day they were at the post office on their way back. That was a Friday... On Monday Directv debits my checking account for $600. I promptly called my bank to dispute the charges and then called Directv to see what was going on. The operator I talked to said the boxes were sent out on the 12th and they charge you if they aren't back in 7 days. That's 7 days, not 7 BUSINESS days. Boxes sent on the 12 th so on the 19 th I get charged. "But, don't worry." she says "When we receive your boxes we will credit your account within 4 to 6 BUSINESS days." WOW. I used to recommend Directv to friends and family. And in the '90s and early 2000s when my parents had Directv they were a really decent company. Now I can't recommend them to anyone. |
