I suffered a 3rd degree burn to the LHS of my head, face and ear following a collapse onto a heater during a massive pulmonary embolism. Consequently I lost my waist length hair from that side and had to have the remainder shaved off for skin grafts, I had further reconstructive surgery using skin from my abdomen to reconstruct my left ear, I am waiting on further surgery. It affected me, changed my whole life, I didn't feel like a woman anymore and found it very hard to deal with, but I had the courage to go on the Jeremy Kyle show for people with facial disfigurement, which helped immensely. Jeremy offered to buy me a real hair wig and because I was in contact with Diane Shawe I went to her for the wig. Diane was most charming but she railroaded me into a wig I wasn't too sure about, she just seemed so confident, possibly controlling and very overpowering. Diane was aware why I need to wear wigs and that ITV was footing the bill. It seemed strange that the hair was coming out from this wig a lot more than the NHS acrylic wigs I have had to endure. When I was away on holiday this year I asked to have streaks put into my wig they noticed the label had been cut out ,and there was very little 'hair' left on the cap. Although they were able to use the straighteners on the wig it wouldn't take any colouring. I was told that either it is a high grade acrylic or a very low grade real hair wig. I hadn't bothered to look or check because I was so so pleased that, as I thought, someone was helping me regain my look, confidence and much more. I believe that ITV has paid a lot for the wig, consultations etc and I will contact them direct to put the ball in motion at that end. At the moment I am having to wear a wig that is obviously substandard which may not be noticeable to the lay person but is a big deal to me. I have emailed Diane Shawe and Academy of Beauty but so far all my emails are being returned address not found. Doesn't help me get a new wig, does it? She shouldn't be allowed to play with peoples lives like this, and, Diane if you are out there reading this, I think a gesture of two REAL hair wigs, to my specification would be the order of the day to start to put right the despicable use of someones unfortunate circumstances to make 'a quick buck' Judy, Lingfield, Surrey, UK, RH7 6BY
