In April of 2010 we were receiving multiple offers on post cards from AT&T Uverse to switch our cable, internet and phone services to them and receive a $300.00 gift card. Finally on June 28, 2010 we decided to change over all of our service. We had a few questions so we called AT&T Uverse direct. We were speaking to a customer service agent. We didn't ask for a deal, we knew what we wanted, and it is the U450 package with 24 speed and 3 receivers. He gave me a price of $146.00 plus tax. I asked about the $300 coupon and he said that he can only give me a $100 coupon because this is a better deal for us and there is no fee for the 3 receivers and we would also get the faster speed at the same cost as the 18 speed. Before agreeing to make the switch we asked if these prices were an introductory and we were told that they are NOT introductory rates. Before I made the switch I put the phone on speaker and had the agent repeat the offer to my spouse. When we had the installer come to the house, I asked if we were getting 24speed before he starts the installation, He said NO so he called the ATT Uverse office and put me on the phone, after I spoke to the office for 10 minutes of them not seeing the faster speed, they said that they saw it in the notes, when we switched our service they will give us the 24 speed for the same price. I asked for the person's name and they gave me a confirmation number and said that will show the discount on the bill. When we received our first bill it was for 2 months and the amount was wrong. We contacted Uverse and they had no record of who we spoke to in June. They said there was no deal for the 24 speed internet at the same price as the 18 speed; they also said that there saw no deal that includes free receivers. I asked for the sales person that sold us the package. They would not give us his name and said that they have no way of finding out who sold it to us. I tried to give ATT Uverse the confirmation number that we were given over the phone. The person we spoke to didn't even want the number because he said there is no such deal that we were offered. We than demanded the $300.00 gift card instead of the $100.00 one because we were totally lied to and didn't get the faster speed and free receivers and they refused to give it to us. They did say that they will give us 3 months free for the receivers because that is part of the offer. We repeatedly asked about the person we spoke to who told us all the wrong things and they claimed there was no way to find out who the sales man that set up our account, even though we called AT&T Uverse directly. Now we are being charged an extra $10 a month for the faster speed and $14 per month for the receivers. And the price is not introductory and will go up in 1 year. Just a note to this day I still get offers from AT&T to switch to their services and receive a $300.00 gift card. Needless to say we are extremely disappointed with Uverse and the $24.00 a month increase that we are now paying. To anyone who is thinking of switching, get it in writing via email or fax or in the mail because otherwise AT&T is full of it and you are going to be paying way more than they tell you. |
