ABM Van Lines aka / ASAP Movers FRAUD!!! -Scheduled for 8AM but arrived at 9:30. Called at 8;20 saying they were 15 miles away but still took over 1 hour for arrive? Their tardiness resulted in us paying more due to the afternoon 210 East traffic on the way to the destination. -Once arrived, Eli, the Foreman, had me initial contract waiving my right to receive the ‘Important Information Booklet.’ He also said that payment is due once the truck arrives at destination. I protested and said that has never been the case with other movers and I was not informed by their company about that. I said I wish to cancel their service. He replied, “It’s too late. We’re already here. You would have to pay the $524 on the finalized moving quote.†****ENTRAPMENT!**** -Without my prior consent, a total of 4 movers arrived instead of the agreed 3. Hourly charge increased from $90/hr. to $105/hr. I agreed because the Foreman said it would speed up to move time. -He asked where we’re moving and we learned he didn’t have possession of the finalized quote/agreement. We showed him our copy and clarified the costs and the fragile items listed to be boxed. He replied that more boxes will be needed and the prices are incorrect. We adamantly said that we’re sticking to the finalized quote and that was the purpose of the agreement. We agreed that he will charge $120 total ($30 x 4 boxes). -DID NOT WORK! Stalled and took their time to move the items. The guys upstairs were constantly sitting around, or on the phone, or in the bathroom, or standing around talking and not working. -A few hours later, he asked us for lunch and to order pizza! I gave him a page from the phone book for him to order. Domino’s Pizza will later call to say that the movers stole the pizza from the driver, Ricardo. Before leaving the house, he asked us for soda. -The Foreman told us that we would have to pay additional to box the following: -Refrigerator -Stove -Washer -Dryer *****FRAUD***** because: #1: Only fragile items (grandfather’s clock, glass curio, big mirror) were to be boxed, per the agreed upon finalized quote. #2: We have moved several times and never did those appliances require boxing. #3: Nowhere in their contract does it state that the movers dictate what’s fragile. Their contract states, “Please be advised that blankets are usually sufficient for the protection of typical wood, metal and, sometimes, plastic items; glass items, electronics and anything that is delicate or fragile will usually require additional protection, such as critic, etc. Please note that we can provide you with professional packing services using our supplies, your supplies or a combination thereof;†-We asked that he call his company, in our presence, to get clarification of the finalized quote what needs to be charged or not. The Foreman refused to talk in front of us and made the call in a far distance. He returned to say what he says stays and we have to pay hundreds to box what he says needs to be boxed. We asked to call his company. He gave (408) 436-9039. Spoke with Jasmine who rudely kept saying, “Read your contract.†We calmly stated we have read it thoroughly and asked her to point our where it specifically says that the Foreman can dictate what needs boxing and also dictate pricing? She repeated the same answer and refused to give the name of her Supervisor. She hung up on both our calls. -A few minutes after our calls, the Foreman approached us and said, “We’ll take them (fridge, stove, washer & dryer) without a box if you write and sign that we’re not liable for any damages. And, you have to give us a positive feedback†In order to transport our appliances, I wrote and initialed. -When showing him the Zenith TV to take, he uttered, “It doesn’t matter if it gets damaged, you already signed that we’re not liable.â€! Upon me signing, they stopped wrapping the furnitures in blankets, which did result in damages. -Upon arrival to our destination, he demanded payment before releasing our possessions. We argued that this has never been the case and we want to ensure our items are safe before paying. He refused and said our items will stay in the truck and we’ll keep getting hourly billed if we don’t pay right then. ****KEPT POSSESSIONS HOSTAGE**** ****FORCED TO PAY MADE UP, EXORBITANT FEE QUADRUPLE THE AGREEMENT**** -After repeatedly asking him, Foreman Eli finally signed the itemized receipt I wrote but refused to give/write his name saying, “I don’t want to put my name and go to court. It’s happened before.†-He also demanded, shoving his paper to us, “You need to give us a good review. I’ll give your receipt after you write a good review!†We were COERCED to give the good review. After I was coerced to give their review, he didn’t give me the receipt and I had to demand it. Needless to say, it is completely false and ABM Van Lines, aka ASAP Moving are crooks who should be shut down ASAP!
