American Circulation Enterprises Progressive Readers Organization Magazine Scam Harold, Kentucky |
13th of Jul, 2011 by User732061 |
Opened the door one sunny afternoon to a young man who took awhile to get to his spiel due to his "turrets," or so he said. When he finally told me that he was selling magazines I politely told him that I was not interested but he would not take no for an answer, even as my young children screamed for attention from the house. I asked pointed questions about the prices and told him I could get it cheaper elsewhere and he kept going on about how I was helping him out if I were to buy a subscription. This carried on for at least 20 minutes and I should've just gone inside and shut the door but seeing how he had a "disability" I found it hard to be so callous. Then it occurred to me that I would place an order and promptly cancel it. I wrote a check, relieved to finally get him out of my hair and get back to my kids. Once he left I read the cancellation policy and followed it to a T. I sent a written notice of cancellation out that same day. A month later this company "Progressive Readers Organization" cashes the check...for my cancelled order. My phone calls to the company go unanswered and my messages unreturned. Not surprised. I've filed a complaint with the BBB. I also managed to find the salesman on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=519055521), through the company's Facebook page - which only has 8 likes (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Progressive-Readers-Organization-LLC/207101442644159). Their web site is a joke - hosted free through a web site called Wix.com. http://www.wix.com/prollc0/prollc#! This isn't a company or an organization. It is just a bunch of kids who like to party and in order to support their lifestyle, they will scam whoever to achieve it. I had a hunch not to do it and didn't act on it. I haven't been scammed in a long time, but thanks to this I am back on my game! |

my husband subscribed to a magazine and obviously won't get it! What a scam! |

I got my magazines and I also purchased from the same individual. You should have not even bought from him if all you are going to do is complain about it! People like you make me sick and the only scam here is you writing a check with the intention of canceling...What an idiot! You caused all of this on yourself and you want to blame the company?? Get a life! |

My husband and I ordered magazines from this company without researching it first. We were caught "off guard" as we were enjoying watching our children play in the front yard. After a friendly conversation with the young lady from which we purchased a few children's books, we decided to look the company information up online. To our dismey, we were horrified to see all the slander of this company posted on the internet and basically wrote our money off, as we were past the cancellation period. Guess what? We got our magazines a few months later and our children recieve their issues on a monthly and bi-monthly basis. It is so sad to see these kids working so hard for the awards alloted to them only to find a few "pissed off" people slandering them on the internet! I say "Good luck " to them and "GOD BLESS" them for working hard to establish themselves in this horrible and unfair world of ours! |

I purchased from a guy named Kyle Perkins, and many of my neighbors purchased as well (back in AUgust 2011). NONE of us ever received anything, and the number on my receipt is bogus. This company is a SCAM...DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. I am going to contact the police and my local news station, but it's unreal that people get away with this. |

He is now in Floyd county jail on another offence. He has a hearing on Monday the 25th June 2012. Call Judge Hall ASAP or the Pd. He just left us here in Washington. And went to Ky. I just Googled his name and seen this.. |
