I received a phone call from Sam about setting him up with a credit card machine for his business. Sam made the offer sound so simple, easy, and affordable for a new business owner. Mr. Jones told my husband that he would only be paying $39.99 a month for the service plus 3% of charges ran through the terminal. Sam did not tell me that I would also be incurring monthly charges from Northern Leasing Systems, Inc., a third party processor. I was not told that I would be prorated for the account from the time of startup till the billing date. Sam told me that I needed to complete the forms (Sam gave me the amounts to fill in the blanks) and return by a certain time, in which I did, to receive a $49.99 rebate. Everything was a rush rush by Sam. Upon receiving my statement, I had debits/transactions that I had no idea where they had come from. I begin calling and find that these transactions are from Merchant Services and Northern Leasing Inc. I spoke with Nikki at Virtual Merchant Services to find out why there were so many charges and was told that I needed to call Northern Leasing because they had debited the account twice. I called them and spoke with Wendy. I was told that we were paying insurance on the terminal, in which, we have liability insurance that covers this. Sam had failed to mention that. Needless to say, she faxed me the information for a waiver of current insurance coverage. That would take off $10.00 a month. I then decided to speak with Sam. I called VMS and got a list of extensions since I didn't have a direct one for him and his name is not even listed with the company. It was also understood by me that he could return the setup within 90 days if not satisfied. That isn't true either. I was informed that he was stuck with the setup for 48 months or I would be taken to court. I was also told that because I ran a seasonal business that the account would not be charged during the off peak and I continue to be charged every month. I have be charged semi annual fees without my knowledge until it is too late because my bank has already charged the NSF fees. I have incurred in excess of $200 in NSF fees since the business has been closed on May 1, 2011. I put just enough of my own personal funds in there to keep up on the auto debits, but because that can charge you whenever they want for any reason without your knowledge or notification I incur the fees from my bank becuase the funds aren't available. I have closed my doors for good and I have to continue dipping into my personal finances to keep paying all of these crazy charges. I need help. I am not justing reporting here, I also contacted the Better Business Bureau for the state of IL and have gotten no resolution with that process. I will continue my fight until the contract has been terminated with no early termiantion fees and refund of all charges. I have only accepted one credit card transaction and after I saw that the profit on $150 charge was only $15 dollars I was appauled and never accepted a card again. I uplugged the terminal and have been trying ever since to get out of this scam. I started this process back in January and have been completely unsucessful, so it anyone out there has any advice how to help that would be greatly appreciated.
