We hire Troy the Roofer Troy Shuford of Willis or Conroe Texas to build a closet cabinet and to assemble and install our kitchen cabinets. He sounded like he knew his stuff, he looked at our closet built in design, he gave us a reasonable bid, and he was ready to start. He even offered to pick up our materials at Home Depot for us. So being busy at work I get a call from Home Depot, they say amount, I figure cabinet must have been more than he thought, pay it and get the invoice faxed to me. Yes I should have looked at this list before he left with my materials, but I thought he was honest. He order all materials necessary for the cabinets and the closet built in, and ordered more sandpaper and glue that you could use on both jobs. Lots of glues, putty, nails and excess wood. He shows up day one, and our agreement was he wanted some money for the weekend, so I would give him half day one, he was supposed to have finished the cabinet, so his half was $362.50, even though the cabinet was only $275. At the last minute he asked for half of that in cash, I thought okay he should have the cabinet done, so its okay. I arrive, I pay him, I get inside he has done nothing all morning, just move the already made cabinet into the closet. He showed us an issue, and had great excuses as to why he was not done, So I still believed he was on track, before I knew it he was gone, and he did not return until after I was gone, That was Friday no work completed, Saturday I get a call from my bank, he is cashing the check for the rest of the half, he still has not completed the closet, I am getting a weird feeling, but he assures me he is on his way, that way. I ask him to take a picture when he is completed, and he hangs up on me. At this point I feel sick, my husband said lets see what he does today. He did arrive at the property at 1:45pm stayed until 7pm, around 9:30pm I finally got a small blurry image from him, but I asked if he finished he said oh yes. So we drove 3 hrs round trip to the house to see how it looked, it was no way finished, wood putty not sanded, nothing sanded, cockeyed cuts, shelves are not level. We are very disappointed, so we call Troy Shuford, aka Troy the roofer and he said it was pitch black when he left, and he had not finished with it but would do so Tuesday morning when he was supposed to install our kitchen cabinets. I texted when are you coming out with our materials, at this point we realized he has kept all our materials, he never put any of it in our home. $371.25 in materials minus $139 for the cabinet and one piece of plywood, there were no bottles or tubes of glue in the trash or on site, just a mess he left inside and outside the house. He cut the wood in our bedroom too and that was part of our contract he cut out side only in a designated spot. Mid day he finally responded back with a smart comment Thats better, I dont know when I am coming out. Ill let you know. Now this guy was supposed to have our cabinets assembled and in place by Wednesday morning for the counter-top guy. He never showed back up, he refused to give our materials back, so I asked one more time, just return our stuff to Home Depot they can credit me back, but no. He starts lying saying he used them all on our job. He did not the materials are not on site 45 sheets of sand paper 4 sanding sponged, hinges, handles, I have no hinges or handles. He STOLE OUR STUFF! We are out $733 money he got and loss of materials. NEVER USE THIS LIAR!!! All I can do I guess is file a police report, and hope there is some justice. SO SAVE YOURSELF THE LESSON LEARNED. HIS PRICES ARE CHEAP BUT THEY COME AT A BIGGER COST WHEN HE RUNS OFF WITH YOUR MONEY. How do I know he did this. Home Depot guy states he received our materials, he never put them in the locked House in a guard gated community on Friday or Saturday, and he never once states he did not have them. He never states maybe someone else took them, because he know he has them and no one else had access. Can I sue him for all of our lost time, stole materials, money for poor work not completed? |
