I just wanted to let people know that they should be aware of this cult and its practices. It is based mostly in MI and PA with the leader in Mexico. The leader has self published a book called "Office of the Shaman" that is largely a mishmash and rewording of already published materials with some pseudo-science thrown in. The entire premise of it is to get you to pay several hundred dollars to have the guru help you write a several part statement that is supposed to completely change your life and be "more effective then therapy". At first it seems like any other self-help concept with some religious philosophy thrown in. There is always another step that has to be paid for to reach so called enlightenment and harmony. My family member paid over 3k, sending money via moneygram for various classes. The goal is to get you to pay about $1600 to go visit the leader in Mexico for a week where you are kept short on sleep, in constant emotional upheaval, and spend most of the day in a semi-hypnotic state. Then you are told you are one of the "elite" warriors meant to be part of a "Naguals Party" - the nagual being the leader, who claims he is a mysterious double being. A lot of this is based on the Castaneda cult and shares much of the same emotional abuse and brainwashing tactics. When my family member tried to leave he/she was alternately verbally abused, threatened, told he/she was worthless, told bad things would happen - that he/she does not want to deal with their real issues so they are just running away. (And it is the leader who decides what your issues are, if you disagree then you are just running away from them) Several people who came to the group with medical issues were told they could simply ignore reasonable medical treatment because they could just "change their belief about being sick" and they would be cured. More then one member has been driven to a suicidal state. If you get involved with this group please be VERY careful. For those who wonder why I use he/she for my family member and such - I would prefer the group not know exactly who posted this. The harassment would be unending. Concerned Family Member
