We took our truck to Tommy's Body Shop because they promised us that there was no way our truck was totalled after seeing pictures of the truck, and after several people had determined they would declair it totalled. Tommy Ephrim himself said not only can he do it, but he was giving $500 discount to everyone towards their deductable, and he could even do ours for $650 off the deductable. When asking him about how long he thought it would take he said 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks. We decided to have the truck taken there, since they were willing to work with our insurance and us to not total it. After 1 1/2 weeks it was there my husband and I surprised them and just showed up. When we went in the back Dave did not see us and was towing another vehicle with our truck. Then he thru a chain half over the tailgate slaming the other half against the outside tailgate. After he was done with the chain he got in our truck (which had not been started on yet) and tried out the V8 engine hotrodding it into the shop, fishtailing the backend and almost hitting the garage door. When he got out he saw us and shook my husband's hand and said "Hi, I was just playing around in your truck". Dave also said they hadn't started working on it at that point because they were waiting on parts. We made surprise apperances each week on different days, just to get more mad each time. Each time we went in there was one excuse after another, and we always heard "Next Monday" on the time frame. We heard everything from they shipped the wrong part, to we ran out of money and had to use your money to fix re-does that came back in. That made me furious when they told me they did not have any more money and could not finish buying the parts until something else came in. However, they offered us the option of finding the parts and buying it then taking it to them. I told them no because the insurance had paid them for our parts, and I was not going to buy them too. After a month Progressive insurance, Drive Time (the lender), and Enterprise rental had contacted Tommy and he stated to all of them personally that he realizes the delay is his fault and he would pay for the rental vehicle we were in after the insurance paid 30 days was up. After 2 weeks Enterprise called me and stated they have not been able to reach Tommy so they had to deduct the rental from our account $650.00, after they deducted it. I still don't have a reciept or statement from Enterprise for what that fee went towards, and I challenged it with the bank saying we did not give permission to deduct that amount and was unaware of this until after the fact. We finally got the call 2 months later, something they said would take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, that our truck was done. When we went up there it looked like crap. They didn't bother about cleaning it at all. There was rubbing compound all over it that had dried onto the paint. They threw the damaged step rail in the bed of the truck and on that side there are just metal brackets that it attaches to hanging out from the truck. The spare tire was thrown in the bed of the truck. The "new" hood had dents all across the front of it. The rear right brake light doesn't work. The bedliner is missing all it's screws across one side. The pin stripe is not the one we had and doesn't have the GMC logo like what Progressive paid them for. The right mirror was replaced with a plain power mirror not one like they took off that had a turn signal in it and that matches our left one. The license bracket was not replaced and it was put on upside down. After opening up the truck there was grinding dust all inside due to open windows when it was in shop, and my favorite part there was a condom in console. After driving the truck for a day the steering wheel is not straight, and they did not attach the fender well so it is all torn up now from flapping into the tire. We took the truck to get detailed and the paint is permanently messed up due to the compound, and my husband took the truck to Service King and they said they dented the hood from pushing down on it in a way they should have known better doing. I have took pictures of all of this and our intentions are to sue them so we can take it to someone like Service King and have it fixed right at Tommy's expense. We were also smart enough when we picked up the truck to have Dave at the body shop say we picked it up with the dented hood and the damaged step rail in the bed of the truck unrepaired. However when you speak to Tommy he says he did us a favor by not totalling it to begin with and doing it for less than the deductable. We are now in the market for a good attorney. |
