We received a letter from this firm asking to call them and claiming that they can "make your illegal and fraudulent mortgage go away, seek monetary relief, stop foreclosures, and/or seek compensation for damages. So, we called and left a voice mail with our number. Next day I received a call from them and, since I am already aware with the plot these and other "helpers" of the same kind are trying to pursue, told the person on the line that I will be more then willing to work with them but only if the retainer that they are going to ask me to pay upfront for their services to be put into the escrow account and to be contingent on the success. The caller response was: "we do not work like that". I said, but of course you do not, because you are the crooks. The guy other other end said "F...you" and hang up. Do not waste your time if you receive the same letter by calling this firm. If you are not familiar with this scam, this is what these people do: They are offering you the incredible deals by claiming that you indeed have a good case for a lawsuit against your mortgage bank after collecting the information from you about some details on your mortgage and "investigating" whether you have a good case. Sometimes they even try to charge you a separate fee for the "investigation". Then they are asking for a substantial amount of money to be paid as a retainer (between 3 to 8 thousand dollars), and if the bank agrees to settle, your mortgage can be reduced dramatically or even eliminated. They also claim that the the success percentage of such litigation practice is about 96%. Be very carefully and do not agree to pay them a penny, unless the retainer is in your escrow account and contingent to the successful outcome. |
