Capital Alarm
Capital Alarm EVERYONE BEWARE! STAY AWAY!!! Tuscon, Arizona
31st of Jan, 2011 by
Do not use this company for any reason. Use a local company! They will sign you up on a three year contract and sell it to a company that is going out of business. Then they will disapear like a thief in the night. You can get local monitoring with the same exact equipment for $19.99. The sales reps make their $350 and the techs make thier $100 and then vanish. They go to a city for a month then go to the next city then off to the next. The problem is they dont leave any customer support behind them. Dont use this company. Dont use APX aka VIVent, pinnacle, vision, templar. Only sign up with someone that is in your local phone book and that has been there for 5 or more years. Thank me later!!!!

Although I'm sure this scam alert was posted by a competitor, if you are a Capital Alarm customer you are welcome to contact us at 877.241.1844 with any questions or concerns. Although we have experienced some growing pains over the last few years we are very dedicated to our customers and strive to resolve any issues. Our reputation with the Better Business Bureau firmly attests to this as well as thousands of our happy customers. If you doubt it, contact us and we will be more than happy to provide you the contact information for some customers that have offered to be references for us.

It is true that we do periodically have groups of travelling sales persons and technicians that go through areas, however we have local technicians in the areas to provide any customer service that is needed.

Capital Alarm only partners with 5 diamond certified monitoring stations, one of which was recently awarded Frost & Sullivan's Company of the Year award for excellence in customer service. (http://www.frost.com/prod/servlet/press-release.pag?docid=219456789) Capital Alarm has never sold contracts to any companies that have gone out of business.

Capital Alarm is an authorized dealer of Honeywell Security products and only uses the latest and most secure producs with a focus on 2-Way over cellular monitoring coupled with interactive services. $19.99 monitoring rates will only provide abysmal monitoring services that can easily be bypassed, with little customer support.

A Capital Alarm salesman named J.T. Fulton came to my door Sunday offering a free Honeywell upgrade to my ADT home security systme. He told me that ADT will no longer monitor my security system via landline and I must upgrade to the new equipment. He also said I could cancel the new contract at any time if I didn't like the service and there would never be any price increase. When I read the contract it was for a term of 3 years and the monthly cost was $11 per month higher than what I am paying now. It also allowed for substantial price increases after the initial 3-year period. When I started asking pointed questions, he became nervous and left quickly. I tried to report this incident to the BBB and they never heard of Capital Alarm located in Tucson, Arizona. Don't let these people past your front door. J.M. Littleton, Colorado

The same experience happened to me last night with capital/ honeywell. On foot two young guys came to my door spouting averages and details about how my alrm system is not state of the art and it can be overridden by simply doing this or that. So you feel your system is incompetent. They stressed, I will continue to pay my current bill to my current provider and nothing will change but you will get a free upgraded state of the art system. And they are doing advertising so if you display our sign it will cause people in neighborhood to be aware of theri company and in a few weeks they will be selling the sytem to people so if you act now you can be the lucky recipent of a free system. FYI if it sounds to good to be true check it out. I can see how an elderly or easily convinced person can get swayed because they pull out all the shots try to scare you with possiable events etc. I was almost convinced but I had time to think I told the m I was busy and to please come back when my husband gets back a good excuse casue he was not there I used this time to call my current provider and see what my options are. Please people call you current provider if you are under contract and you agree to upgrade your system with capital /honeywell you are voiding your contract and subject to penalty fees. Something which was never mentioned by capital / honeywell reps until I brought it up and got an around the way answer that yes I was right. Basically, Don’t sign another contract for service until your contract it up.

An individual recently approached my renter in NM and told him that he was doing free upgrades to ADT equipment in the area. He presented himself as a representative for ADT to my renter and wanted to know the details of my contract with ADT. My renter called me and knowing that ADT wouldn’t come to my door without notification I began questioning the individual over the phone. He kept trying to circumvent my questioning by telling me that my equipment was outdated and unsecure. After several pointed questions I deduced that he was from Capital Alarm and attempting to get me to switch companies under the guise of being my current alarm co., ADT. Needless to say I was livid and we got into a heated argument. He was told to leave my property. That night my garage door was vandalized with profanities “F*** this house, B******” as well as pictures of male genitalia. Also, two of my neighbors houses were vandalized who also turned the individual down. I called the company to complain and gave the messages to an employee. I waited all day for someone to contact me and finally called them back. I spoke with the owner who was flippant and basically told me “you can’t prove it was my employee” This company is a fraud and their employees are criminals.

A young guy who claimed to be with Capital Security came to my door recently (August 2011) in Las Cruces, NM, and immediately began asking me very specific questions about my alarm system and asked me whether it used a land line or wireless signal to call out, etc. He also asked me what type of panel I had and on and on. Of course I didn't give him any information whatsoever about my security system. He became frustrated and pushed hard to get me to agree to "free" equipment upgrades, reduced monthly monitoring rates, etc., but I wouldn't budge. He would not give me his name, but claimed his company was registered with the BBB and was an "A" company. Frankly, the kid seemed sleezy and I wondered if he was a burglar canvassing the neighborhood to try to find out who had working security systems and who didn't. When I finally got rough with him and told him I was NOT interested and to please get off my property, he did leave, but I could hear him muttering profane language as he stormed off. In short, stay away from these folks. This outfit has "SCAM" written all over it. Also, do NOT, under any circumstances, give detailed information to anyone about your security system... especially not a total stranger.

First of all I will like to begin by telling this post how angry I am with the stupid comments I read here. I called my Capital Alarm Representative to let him know that one of my good friends wanted to switch to them here in Las Cruces. He told me he would be glad to, but my friend will have to pay for installation and activation as they are not doing the promotion in Las Cruces anymore. He said that posts like this one drove them out of the city, so the tech will have to come from El Paso to install it and that's why he has to pay. Good job local company, your plan worked. Luckily I'm was not naive enough to have fallen for this posts lies. I had my security system with one of the local companies, before switching, I called and asked if they could give me the same equipment, they said they could but I had to pay for it and my monthly would increase. I wasn't going to pay this people to upgrade my equipment when I could get it for free, so I switched. I was paying about the same per month and i only had my home phone for the alarm. I switched to Capital Alarm and I'm paying a little more but I cancelled my home phone service, so technically I'm paying less for the security. I love my system, I travel a lot and instead of giving my friend a code to check on my house I can turn it on and of with my smart phone anywhere I have internet access. The alarm went off one night I forgot it was on and opened the back door, a representative from the monitoring company talked to me through my key pad and i told them not to send help. It was nice to know I can talk to them that quickly. People this is a good company that only installs good equipment, well I think Honeywell is good stuff, don't let your local companies fool you into keeping old equipment by posting this stupid comments here. Like my friend you will end up paying out of your pocket.

The complaints posted here are true. This company is known for their deceitful practices all over. When there is a complaint there is almost always an instant rebuttal claiming that the complaints are from a competitor. They dont want you to know that they are a sub par company. Thats why their sales personnel have to throw out the name ADT in their sales pitch to confuse the home owner and make them believe they are ADT. They are scammers.

One of those liars just came to my home. First presented himself as from Capital Honeywell, "you know honeywell right?" using the Honeywell name to get my trust, then asked if my front yard was all mine till the curb, or there was any part owned by the city, because they just wanted to put their ad up, and by doing that they would give me a free security system. I told him I had ADT and then he went on to say that was perfect because they would just upgrade my ADT system and blah blah blah. I just told him I didn't want any upgrade and he could leave. In less than 3 minutes of conversation he had posted as being Honeywell and then ADT, i didn't have time to hear any more lies.

OK! I have Capital Alarm, yes it goes to Monitronics as the monitoring company. I'll bet ADT can't match this, I received alarms on all my doors & down stairs monition sensors in the living room, family room & kitchen, FREE of charge. I will say I had to pay for one door sensor, I wanted one on my outer garage door that goes into the yard, cost $35.00, this was after every thing else was installed. ADT what do you get for $19.95? This is what you get ONE door alarm plus the Control box of course. I also got TWO remote controls! I checked into ADT before I got this alarm system.

They have been very good as far as customer service goes. Any time I have had a question I've called and got a straight answer right away with no problems. They have called me to make sure everything is fine! They have told me to set up my own account to monitor my account & to preform a monthly test of the system.

I have had no complaints about them! On the other hand, I have seen many complaints about ADT too!
