Dishonest Consierge Service Scam |
6th of Nov, 2011 by unhappy 4075 |
My wife and I fell for the offer of two free air tickets if we sat through a 90 minute presentation. Included with our "Prize" was supposed to be two nights at a luxury hotel, and a free camera, or other gift. The spiel turned out to be concierge service for around $10,000!
The post card I received inviting me to this event, claimed that it was from US Air and implied that I would be receiving two US air ticket vouchers. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! We received a form from Smart Travel and Incentives. If we follow their terms, and pay deposits, taxes and fees up front, we will be eligible for a reimbursement AFTER our travel.
The terms are contradictory AND IMPOSSIBLE TO ADHERE TO! You have to purchase your trip before applying, but they say you must submit two dates of travel, AND get their authorization BEFORE you make any travel plans!
The other gifts are equally fraudulent, the hotel stay had similar terms, and the FREE camera cost $10.00. |

I agree completely with the above post. We went today 12/8/11 to the same presentation at the Falls of Ogunquit and received the same impossible to comply conditions for the two "free" tickets.
This is a total scam and obviously I was a fool to fall for it. Luckily I was only out a few hours of my time. |

I had a similiar experience as we accepted a 'free weekend' at Pollard Brooke in Lincoln, NH and supposedly would receive 4 free air line tickets which I looked forward to using to visit my family. However after the long presentation the tickets were tied to all kinds of required times, required lengths of stay and you had to use their facilities as well.
we were talked into a sight-seer package and they offered us optional bonus nights which we were told could be rolled into our off years. Later on these disappeared when we tried to use them. They have chaged rules and this year, despite the fact that we should have all year to take a week at one on the facilities we had a call this week telling us that this was our week and so, since we have not made a reservation and are not using our week we have lost it. needless to say, it is impossible to tell the person on the phone that you do not see anything like this in your owner papers.
The whole experience has disappointed me and I would never recommed going to a time share or dealing with any of the sales people because I feel it is very dishonest and they change the rules as the time goes by as if what they promised you never existed. |
