Universal Action Travel
Universal Action Travel Inc. This company is only interested in one thing, selling TimeShare properties. Tampa, Florida
13th of Apr, 2011 by User908485
We bought a vacation package from Universal Action Travel Inc at a cost of about $600 Cdn for 3days/2nights in Orlando and 3days/2nights in Daytona. When we arrived at the resort in Orlando we were told that we must attend a 2 hour Presentation the next day. Failure to attend would result in a forfeit of all accommodations, meaning we would have to pay for the entire stay at the resort at a cost of $110 per night. For the record, we had already made plans for that day which now had to be canceled. They prebooked our Presentation for 12:00 noon so that we couldn't make any plans that day. Of course we attended the presentation which consisted of a group of people trying to dupe us into buying one of their timeshare properties. Even though we weren't interested in buying one of these properties they kept on pushing. Finally, two hours later we were able to convince them that we weren't interested and went on our way. We later called Universal Action Travel and advised them to cancel our Daytona portion as we are not interested in timeshare properties. The agent on the phone said we are not allowed to cancel and that we would be charged the full cost of the hotel for the 3days/2nights in Daytona. I told the agent I'm cancelling anyways. I then called the hotel to cancel and they said that only the travel agent can cancel, not me. I then called my credit card company and canceled my credit card to ensure they weren't able to apply charges to it. Universal Action Travel is a scam designed to sell you a timeshare property. They appear to sell you a vacation on their website and when they talk to you on the phone. But they operate as a third-party for RCI, the largest timeshare vacation exchange company in the world. If you read the fine print it does say "you agree attend a 90-minute presentation", so they covered themselves legally.
