Tampa Singles Tampa Singles employs hard sell tactics, overpriced fees and don't deliver Tampa, Florida |

I joined seniorpeoplemeet.com and got a call from Tampa Singles the next day. I asked how they got my information and they told me that I signed up for their service. I did not sign up with them but they must buy lists from other online sites. I didn't want to go to Tampa Singles office but I was told that I would be meeting people and having a lot of fun. I assumed it was a meet and greet type of thing. I tried to postpone going in for a couple of days but was quickly talked out of it. After arriving there, I was taken in to a room and asked to complete some information such as what I wanted and don't want in a date and other personal information. After finishing up with the forms, a woman came in and told me that Tampa Singles was not a dating service but a "match for life" service. I was painted all these wonderful pictures of finding my Mr. Perfect, ect. There are large posters on the walls of all the successful matches. It ended up being hard sell when the woman showed me the 3 price ranges. The lowest cost was $4000 going up to around $10,000 for all the bells and whistles. Reluctantly I ended up signing up for the $4000 service. I was not able to pay the total price at the time so the woman went to check with her boss to see if I could make payments. I felt like I was sitting in a car salesman's office. Since joining Tampa Singles on August 24th, I have had only one date. The first 2 matches were with the same man who never bothered to respond. I did end up going on a date with a man from Plant City. I didn't want to go out with him due to the distance between our houses. It was about 50 miles each way. I was told that "love knows no distance" and I needed to keep an open mind. Part of the requirements are to fill out a survey of the date experience within 72 hours. I filled out the form the next day but unfortunately my date has not filled out the form and it has been 9 days. A couple of days later I sent an email and I told them that I needed a new match. I was told that matches take 3-4 for them to find my most compatible match. Tampa Singles does not follow through on their end of the contract. They don't listen to specific requirements such as distances, and try to blow sunshine up your behind. They are like legal loan sharks extorting money from desperate people. I want to break this contract and will be sending them a letter stating that as well as contacting the Better Business Bureau and the FL Attorney General's Office. By the way, they are not members of the BBB but have 25 complaints lodged against them. The initial processing fee of $1500 is not refundable. Tampa Singles says that is the processing fee, background check, and initial meeting fee. Don't fall for their silver tongues and quick talking. They will promise the moon but not even give you space dust. Save your money as you can buy a lot of dates with the money you will waste on their services. |
