I mailed my rings through Canada Post in a pre paid envelope sent to me by Buy Your Diamonds and Gold, Matthew Rogers in July of 2010. One was a mans ring and the other a ladies total value of both combined, $5000.00 and some dollars. I started phoning and e-mailing him as to where mhy cheque was for the rings. He told me he hadn't received them. When i took this package to the postal outlet to mail away I asked if I could put insurance on the contents and the girl told me it would cost to much. I then asked her for a tracking number and she told me it wasn't necessary. I found this strange as she had no idea what was in the envelope. I phoned this Matthew Rogers again and he asked for a tracking number, and I didn't want to tell him I didn't have one. Everytime I phoned or e-mailed him he again asked for a tracking number. I had gone back to the Postal Outlet and told them I hadn't received a tracking number and they told me I should have, but the girl on that day was in training and on her own at the time and naybe wasn't aware. They also told me I could have insured the contents for $500.00 and that is as high as Canada Post goes. In the meantime I was given a number for a Canada Post Supervisor. Again the tracking number was the problem. I also phoned the Ottawa City Police and gave them my story and thew Officer when I gave him the phone number and Postal Code, they told me the phone nUmber was one from Utah, USA. They also told me to go on line and I will see this is a scam. I decided to phone the Utah Justice athorities and gave them the information. They did phone him, but he told them the 1-801-542-9082 was his tracking number not his phone number. They phoned me back and told me I had to contact the Police in Canada. Now, how could they believe him, that his phone number which they phoned and talked to him on was just his tracking number. This whole situation, scam, has caused me a great deal of stress and sorrow. I am sixty-three and needed the money and to help out my Son and his wife who had just had a baby. I am going to continue with this investigation if it kills me. I now know how people feel when they have been taken and I never in a million years thought it would happen to me. My concern is, if this person is caught, will I ever get the rings back. I know I will never see the money, but the rings, would put my mind at ease and I will consider this is a lesson well learned. I have saved e-mail he has sent me in reply to mine, not that it will do any good. I phoned the Ottawa Police again as asked by the R.C.M.P. I am waiting to hear back. Will i ever know if he has been caught? Will I ever find out if people are going to receive their jewelry back? I am not going to quit until it's over. I do hope you get back to me on this report and give me some valued information as to where I go from here and if any jewelry has been taken from his posession and are in the hands of authorities.
