This is the truth about Santa Barbara Consignment Company. The owners, Jennifer Adler Pacella and her self proclaimed "consignment nazi" mother are completly unethical. This will be a short list of some of their scams that I have witnessed first had. If you bring in items that they decide they want personally, they will price it low, then buy it for themselves. Their employees are also doing this but the owners set up a rule that they have to wait a week so the owners can have first dibs. If you have ever been told your items are in "storage", they are actualy in their home being used. The joke between the owners is that there is nothing in their home without an SB Consignment price tag and they are right. If you bring in a valuable item, they will also price it low and buy it themselves. They then, turn around and put it on eBay for a far higher price. I had a talk once with Jennifer about this practice and her answer was "it was fair that I bought it and their own fault for not knowing the value". If you have ever been told that they move their location because of the economy, that's half true. The whole story is right before they have to close their doors, they skip out on their lease, and open in a new location. Because of this practice, they have well over 100K in liens. This should be public record for anyone to look up. Then there is their poor investor, Bob I think his name is, a retired school teacher. They talked him out of the money to open their store but any time they make a profit, they call it their "bonus" and write out a check to themselves. To this day, their investor has not seen a dime for his trubles. Now I'm not saying these things happen to every customer, but it happens enough that nobody should trust them.
