These barely-English-speaking scam artists have banner ads on Internet search engines, so when my parents (92 and 90 years old) searched for support for their Canon printer, then ended up talking to these guys (who have toll-free phone numbers, of course). They somehow convinced my parents that they had "malware" because they couldn't print out an e-mail properly (user error), and talked them into a $499.95 service plan covering two computers for 2-3 years. Foolishly, my parents gave them a credit card number over the phone, and they promised to have the computer "fixed" in 30 minutes. Of course they never called back, which they would have had to do in order to gain remote access to the computers, and when my parents called them, they said they had tried to call but gotten no answer. Phoney Baloney! But they were super quick to charge the credit card, despite my parents verbal insistence on cancelling the order, followed up by emails to their "agent" at pccare247 and to their customer service, demanding that the agreement was null and void, and cancelling. At one point, pccare247 claimed that they HAD "fixed" one computer, but not the other, so they would refund $200 of the $499.95, if my parents agreed to pay the remainder. They said "no" in several immediate emails to the company. This all happened on Saturday & Sunday. To their discredit, CitiBank (the credit card issuer), when contacted, insisted that my parents would be liable for the charges, and refused to let them cancel the card or even block the charge. I do not know if my parents were subsequently able to cancel the credit card, or if the charge went through (I believe it did), and they will certainly dispute it with CitiBank/VISA. Since the transaction is offshore (India), who knows what will happen... PCCARE247 appears to be a very predatory kind of company. My step-mom says when she called them, they claimed they were, indeed, a Canon repair facility, leading her to believe that they were affiliated with Canon. The Canon people have never heard of them. Stay away from this company at all costs. Their written material, and verbal communications, are all that Americans have come to expect from outsourced, offshore tech support: you can barely understand anything they say! To PCCARE247-I want my money back also-you know who I am because you keep accessing my network to try and control my system. I have cleaned up your mess and secured my network after a lot of time and money but I will call you this evening again to speak with you AMMED regarding my full refund or I will further and fully expose you. |

I called the phone number found online and called it. A man with a thick indian accent picked up the phone and said it was technical support. I asked if it was Acer he said yes. I explained the problems I was having with my computer saying I sent my computer in recently to them and when I got it back it was a lot slower than normal. He said it might be due to a virus so he needed to gain control of my computer. He lead me to the website http://www.gotoassist.com/ph/pccare247 then asked me to install a software called gotoassist. I did so and he took control of my laptop. Next, he right clicked on "my computer" and clicked manage. He showed me a bunch of errors and warnings then said something like do you see all these problems you have with your computer. Then he clicked run and a black screen popped up he typed in a command to show me a bunch of different IP addresses. By this time I asked him for his employee number because I found it a little bit suspicious because he started speaking to me about paying for software. I said I still had warranty but he was being very persistent. Then I went to get a pen when I came back i saw that on the black screen he had typed in the word "hacked" which the laptop then said that the word "hacked" was not a command. That's how i knew it was fake. I proceeded to tell him that I wanted his name. He told it me it was Kevin Lord and his number was 507. Which didn't sound like a legitimate Acer customer care number. I told him that I wasn't going to pay him because I had warranty. I said I wanted to speak to customer care. He said he was customer care and I told him not to "bullshit me" because he told me from the beginning that he was technical support. He went quiet for a long time and then I said I wanted to speak to his manager. He said goodbye and hung up. |

THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO ME! I have finally given up on these disgusting peoples' lies and decided to investigate further into this matter. It seems many people all over the world have been fooled by these dirtbags. These people(pccarehelp/247) are grotesque individuals who pray on the belief in corporate integrity, hiding their scam behind big names in technology. To make this story short..I called one day about a month ago, looking for help after having found their name on GOOGLE thinking that they were a legitamate business. I spoke to someone who reassured me that I had the right number for DELL technical support and asked me what my problems were..yada yada. They asked me for my DELL Service Tag, misleading, and eventually gave me the bad news that I would have to pay 139$$ to fix malicious viruses attacking my computer. All in all my problems werent fixed after my attempts to be nice with the poor english speaking agents employed by these crooks. I spent over 14 hours in a 24 hour period speaking to rep after rep trying to have my problems solved by "DELL"(fraudulent sleazebags posing as). I eventually asked for a refund about 15 call backs and work throughs later, having my problems not solved. The technician told me that someone from customer support would call me to deal with that soon, and they did, only to get me again by enlisting me into "free services" for my trouble, promising through their teeth that my problems would be fixed or I would have my refund. Guess what?..nothing has been solved by them and I am worried that my computers security has been compromised worse than it was before I called. I spoke to them a couple of days ago after the last screen sharing attempt came up fruitless surprise surprise, and when I asked for my refund once again I got the same "a customer service agent will call you in the next day." Guess what? No call. And now, I dont know if this is a recent phenomenon or if its just me but they are no longer answering any phone call of mine, Landline, Cellphone or Skype. |

After writing that last comment, couldnt go to sleep. Spent the last 37 minutes on skype phone to india, after some circuitous searching found someone high up in the company's phone number i think(9112446552000), I calmly confronted the man on the phone about a refund and he either had poor english or atleast seemed very flustered, I got transferred down into their "customer support divison" lol . I came upon an oppurtunity to corner the woman from customer support into accidently admitting to the business being faudulent and I told her that I was recording the conversation (lie for a lie..unfortunate to say the least), I proceeded to tell her that I would call Julius Genakowski of the FCC directly if she denied my request, this sent her into a beeline for giving me a promise of a refund. She claimed that she would rest this promise on the life of her unborn child. Supposedly my refund will be coming in 5-6 business days.
Good luck to all you people out there with these same issues. If you feel lucky, give India a call.

I wish I had seen this before my encounter with these people. They are very much into misrepresenting what they can and will do, who they are, and with any problems they quickly tell you they will call you back in 5 minutes( this has happened ten times in 2 weeks) I called just today to tell them how dissatisfied I am with #1 Their customer service #2 the services I was promised and have not received. I asked for a refund and was told I would need to give them another chance, my computer is at risk: to which I replied, you said you fixed my problems the first time( which they had not).I have been on the phone with this guy for 30 min. at this point, ( Then as I am talking to this guy I see the post by Shogungo Thanks) I quickly told him if I did not receive an email with a refund confirmation I would call the FCC, and he changed his pitch of trying to convince me of giving them another chance. BTW I told him a reputible company would not even attempt such poor customer service. Anyways we will see in 5-10 days if this actually worked. GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE!! |

i called pccarehelp thinking it was for avast technical support which they claim it was and it says on website also they went through a process of showing me that i had approx. 27, 000 errors (give or take) and they went on to tell me "they were surprised my computer was even running" my reason for calling them was because i was hit with a fake FBI page prompting me to pay $100 us dollars to unlock my computer and i quickly realized that this is B.S. because i know damn well the FBI woulnt give you a fair warning you would immediatly be hit with $250, 000 fine for reasons listed on that fake page and also the FBI would have been at my doorstep looking for my ass. But i proceeded to call my avast tech support which is when i went through all the crap you guys talked about and i mentioned earlier but thing is my computer does run oddly faster then it ever did but one thing was my search engine was done whenever i would type something in the search bar for the windows start key/tab nothing would come up, i ran it by the tech that which he assumed controlled and proceeded on hours trying to look like he was fixing the problem that of which he could not fix and then asked me again another day if he could try but i figured after 5 hours of failure i dont think they need anymore entry in my computer plus one lady gave me a sort-of great deal which contains the 3-yr package of avast and unlimited maintenance for only $249.99 kind of odd considering the fact they said unlimited pccare when my plan is only for 3 yrs? but what does any of you think? |
