5/3/11 I made a payment of $50 to MB through PAYPAL, $0.47 paypal balance & $49.53 from debit card which I had just added to paypal account. I marked the transaction to take the $49.53 from my debit card which took the funds from a checking account not associated with my paypal account. On 5/5 paypal pulled $49.53 from my associated bank account (not authorized) instead of my debit card; which overdrew my associated bank account. I was charged a $25 overdraft fee on 5/5. I immediately contact paypal and spoke to Michael. Michael stated that the system must not have confirmed my Debit Card yet, so defaulted to the bank account linked to my paypal account even though nothing said that would or could happen. Micheal told me to CANCEL the transaction, I needed MB to refund the $50 and then pay her with my Visa Debit Card again as it should have gone through in the first place and that would take care of it. I contacted MB and she refunded the $50 on 5/5; I then repaid her the $50 through paypal using my Visa debit card like is should have done in the first place. I thought that was the end of it as that is what the paypal agent had told me would take care of this mess. On 5/11 Paypal AGAIN hit my bank account for the $49.53 which overdrew it to another $25 OD fee. I contacted paypal and spoke to Ray, Ray said that the bank SHOULD waive the fees since it was paypal's fault and emailed me a letter to that effect. Said if bank would not to contact paypal again. On 5/12 the Bank hit me with $36 return payment fee since the payment bounced. On 5/16 the Bank added a $7 OD fee. I have been in contact with paypal and the bank during this whole mess. The Bank waived the two $25 OD fees but will not waive the $36 & $7 fees. The Bank stated the paypal will have to pay those fees as it was their error and the Bank can only waive up to 2 fees. I contacted paypal about the $36 & $7 fees and they refuse to pay them. Paypal was in error, they hit the wrong account in an unathorized transacton. I'm now out $43 that I shouldn't be due to Paypal's error. I was outright LIED to by two different paypal reps. One telling me that MB refunding would cancel the transaction (which it did not) and one telling me paypal would take care of any fees the bank wouldn't waive. |
