Patton Landscape Company Dishonest Sales Practices By The Owner - They Do Not Honor Their Two Year Warranties On Trees Fort Wayne, Indiana |

We purchased two trees from Patton's last spring. One of the trees was delivered with no buds at the top of the main stem. I went in to talk to the owner Rick Patton immediately. I expressed my concern about the tree and told him I was dissatisfied with the London Plane tree that was brought to my home. He assured me that during transport it is not uncommon for the buds/leaves to be blown off. He also said just to continue to care for the tree and reminded me of my 2 year warranty on the tree. My husband was not satisfied with this tree either, so we went back in with photos of the tree. This time Rick Patton was not there so we spoke with his son and showed him the photos. His son immediately got defensive and said Don't deliberately try to kill the tree! Keep taking care of it as you would your other tree. He also said to see if the leaves grow in the following year and if not there is a 2 year warranty on the tree. This week my young son, senior citizen Father and I went in to talk to the owner Rick Patton about replacing the tree. I brought with me the receipt, photos from last year and photos from this year which showed the tree's main stem was dead and two more branches were dead. All I wanted was for him to replace the junk tree they planted. He REFUSED to discuss replacing the tree and shouted at us that he is a tree surgeon and wanted to know what my Father's and my degrees were in. Then he told us to leave his office or he would call the police on us! All we asked politely and calmly was for him to replace the dying tree(that they delivered that way last spring) per his two year warranty agreement. I told him that he had just lost alot of business because from us because my husband and I still had more landscaping projects that we had wanted to do. To which he replied he did not want mine or my friends business! We went into Patton's expecting this not to be a big deal because we have a two year warranty and I had informed him immediately after they planted the tree last year that there was a problem with the tree. Neither my Father or I were prepared for how he treated us. I can't understand why he would threaten to call the police on a senior citizen, 6 year old boy and small built woman just because they want to discuss replacing the bad tree you gave them with a decent tree. Especially since I had documented what the tree looked like last year and this year and had a two year warranty. My son has woke up with nightmares this past week about this man because of his behavior. Patton's has no intention of replacing any of their products. There are two similar reports filed on Insider Pages from other customers and their experience with Rick Patton. Do not waste your money here, go somewhere that actually honors their warranties and won't threaten to call the police on you for wanting to have a civilized conversation. |
