I responded to an ad on Craigslist and received the response below. I was told to get my free credit report, then set up an appointment to look at the house.

The link sent me to a site affiliated with freecreditnation.com, which also shows up on this and other Scam sites. Now when I click on ownerassistedrentals.com it won't load and there is something about "Fraud protection." I believe that both of these websites are scams. If you need a credit report, start at FTC.gov and find the link to annualcreditreport.com, which is the real place to get your free annual credit report.

OMG! I just sent this Jessica a reply to a craigslist ad on an apartment near UCLA! I did a search about this scam on this site but somehow did not land on this particular page until after I emailed her. Crap. Did not send any details only to tell her that I will be using my credit union's free credit report instead of the one she posted.

Haha... that's why I thought it was too good to be true, coz it was! And when I read that exact same email from an hour ago, I just had to do a search. too bad, I was not able to find this one first.

It's interesting that she uses the same EXACT email every single time.

We got it, this place is a PHISHING SITE!!! I received it too.

What everyone should to is report it to craigslist by FLAGGING it as prohibited in the top right corner.

Additionally: If it is too good to be true... than it is not true!!! Thats the way it is in a free market. An apartment like that would not stay open for more than an hour. Apply common sense :)

I really cannot understand 1. who falls for this shit & 2. what do the "scammers" get out of it? I got 3 responses today, one living in West Africa, one in the Philippines and one was our friend Jessica! WTH? Seriously, so glad I decided to look a little further and realize I am not the only one getting these lame responses!

I did click on the link to see WTF it was all about. I typed in my last name and then said to myself...DONT DO THIS.
I hope that by opening the link I did not put my computer in or personal information in jeopardy.

I found this listing on Craigslist as well. I did not fill out the form and send, HOWEVER I did open the link. I had no idea what it was asking.
Could my computer or personal info be in jeopardy?

This was for a house in Manhattan Beach, it did sound too good to be true!

Well, damn...Get the heck out of here!!! I just got the same response and since I never click on links within an e-mail and cut and pasted, but the link did not work which prompted me to look it up even further. Damn!!! what is wrong with people. Folks are genuily looking for a place to live and these scams are out of control Craigslist needs to do better and figure out away to get this undercontrol. I have reported some and I am def. reporting this one. Pisses me off on this beautiful morning...glad I looked this up.

I guess this is Gods way of saying be grateful for what you have because this scaming crap is for the birds...

I got this e-mail for a place in Chicago last week. I was a bit suspicious, but I responded saying that if it's necessary, I will print my credit report from annualcreditreport and never got an answer back. Today, I got the same exact e-mail about a different place. I knew it looked too good to be true.

i got the same crap from an add for pa. how can with all the tech out there this can't be tracked and stopped and people actually held accountable! I mean if you steal someones mac card and use it you would have to deal with justice...but do it online and wham you free to go!
