We received a letter claiming "you enrolled for $10,000 of Accident Insurance coverage, compliments of Bank of America for one year. As a reminder, on 07/28/2011 your coverage will automatically increase to $100,000 and a premium of (blank) per month will be billed and collected with your Bank of America Home Loans mortgage payment." The letter goes on congratulating us. It is signed by "Dean S. Sivley, Chief Operating Officer Accident and Health". The letter smells of international letter fraud but scam Reports suggest otherwise. We do not have a "home loans mortgage payment" but will notify BofA & others.

This is not an "international letter fraud" - it's fraud perpetrated by Bank of America and AIG (which owns National Union Fire Insurance Company). I just spent an hour or so this afternoon working this out, including calling my state regulator of insurance, Bank of America, and National Union Fire Insurance's actual number (212) 770-7000.

Sad to say, it's a scam that I think is on the edge of legal - somebody really needs to get the regulators on this one. I've read a related complaint on another site that said premiums were debited from the individual's account at Bank of America and the person incurred overdraft charges as a result which - surprise, surprise - Bank of America would not refund.
