We bought this 2009 Chevy Malibu 1lt brand new with extended warranty and this is the story so far... We were told by the salesman that the car comes with a blockheater as it is considered standard equipment for a car in Manitoba. A year and a bit after we had the car, I went on a search for the blockheater cord only to find oil all over the engine from the recent oil change we had done at Murrays Chevrolet dealership. When my fiance and I took the car back in for its next oil change, I mentioned that there was oil everywhere last time so just to clean it up this time. I also mentioned the blockheater cord and the service dept. said they would talk to the salesman. We came back to get the car and nothing had been done about the block heater. We went to talk to the salesman we bought the car from with the car brochure that he had circled the block heater option in and inquired about our block heater. He said I guess that one didnt have one but you didnt pay for one so there would be extra charges applied. He circled the option in the book stating it comes with one. After getting no where with him, he got the sales manager who said the exact same thing. He was basically calling us liars without outright stating it. My voice continued to get louder as this was in the middle of the sales floor. Finally I guess I was upset enough that he said he would do it as long as we would be happy. The Radio in this car has never worked properly. First it was the radio itself that none of the buttons worked and you could only control it with the steering wheel controls. We brought it in and they claimed to reflash the radio. Then the steering wheel controls worked intermittently. and the display on the radio started acting up. We brought it back again to get fixed and they apparently fixed it. Well now it still doesn't work properly and you'll be listening to the radio and then all of a sudden it will switch to auxillary or cd. We brought it back in (3rd time), they still didn't fix it. I even kept track exactly when it would happen and it wasn't when we hit a bump, it was random. Its been back again for the fourth time and it still has done this. Not as much but still randomly it will switch. I have asked the service advisor if the radio has been changed and it still hasn't. Why hasn't the radio been swapped out with a new one yet? Its been 4 times already Next it was raining pretty hard and we got into the car and the passenger side was completely soaking wet. At first we thought maybe we left the window open but nope, it was the sunroof leaking. The headliner was soaked, the A-pillar was soaked which also houses an airbag, and the carpet probably had atleast an inch of water that also ruined a leather cd case and about 4 cds. Now we understand that these things do happen but what can you do besides bring it to get fixed. We brought it back to Murrays Chevrolet and they have never seen something like this happen before. Complete LIE because I know someone that worked there and turns out they had a brand new Cobalt that they had to bring into the showroom beacause they sunroof started to leak. Anyway, they "fixed" it and I went and got the car back. I decided to check it out to make sure the carpet was dry. It was still SOAKED, a puddle underneith the carpet and the foam underlay was still soaked and now discoloerd. I also happened to notice a fairly big gap between the weatherstripping and the headliner. I showed our service advisor and told him I wanted the carpet replaced but he said they could only take it out and dry it. By now there were no rental cars left so I had to wait around for about a half hour. Now I have been given a dodge ram beacause they didnt have any gm cars so i was told I would have to come back tomorrow to get a different car. They had the car for a week to take out the carpet and dry it and we got it back again (3rd time) and I checked it again, and it was STILL damp. I showed the service advisor that it was still wet and he couldn't believe it. We were told by the Service Manager that gm canada won't replace the carpet under warranty even though it looked discolored and who knows when it would start to mould. He then told us that it has been treated and would not mould. He also said that the carpet was worn because we had dogs and there was dog hair in it. They told me to leave the car there and I said no because they havent fixed anything. Now our car has been taken apart and put back together way to many times to consider it to be a new car and both problems are still there. This has been a complete joke and I cant even explain how mad and frustrated we are. We have dealt with GM Canada as well as the owner of Murray Chevrolet, Dan Murray, because we feel we have gotten ripped off and dont want this car anymore. It is clearly a lemon. Dan Murray said he would try and help us out so he said we could trade it in for a 2009 malibu base model with more kms than ours. What a JOKE. He offered us a car worth way lessto help us with our problem. His next solution was this email I received: "Hi Samantha, Its been a few days since you were into the dealership. As an update, we do not have another Malibu to look at trading you out of your car into another one. I sent a note to GM to see if they would help me out on this, by way of upgrading you to a brand new car. There were two options I looked into as an alternative to trading you into another 2 year old Malibu with similar equipment and mileage as yours. The advantage to you would be that you would upgrade yourself by two years of vehicle, upgrade your vehicle by going from 50,000 km to 100 or so km, and start all over again with warranty gaining back the 2 years and 50000 km which has now elapsed. Equipment on these cars is similar to yours without a sunroof. Price is plus tax, security transfer and includes assistance from GM and Murrays, plus any applicable cash and loyalty incentives in place. Price does not include GM visa credit if you have any available. Price is firm and good until March 30, 2011. Option 1 - 2011 Cruze LS. Price difference $4975.00. Option 2 - 2011 Malibu LS. Price difference $7900.00. I will be out of the dealership until the 2nd week of April. If you would like to look at either of these cars, please contact John Puchniak. In the meantime, if we have a car similar to yours come in on trade, we will let you know. Thank you, Dan Murray" Keep in mind he wants us to buy a new car from him with all these problem still happening As if we are going to give you another $7900 plus tax for another piece of garbage. Shove it up your ass Dan Murray. We havent heard anything since this email and its been over a month and a half. I have been telling everyone I know to tell everyone they know, Not only to never go to Murray Chevrolet to buy a car but not to even waste your time with a newer GM Car. Thats Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Cadiallac, Hummer. We will make sure our message gets out. Thanks for your time reading this and remember to tell everyone that MURRAY CHEVROLET is a RIPOFF dealership |
