Mel's auto has a pending lawsuit, not for customer service, but for treatment towards employees, or atleast that is the word around town. His prices are good, but that comes at a cost. Of course he finds things wrong with a car during an inspection, that is his job, for a second opinion you can't tell the other shop what you think. As for the service in general, it does suck, its sloppy, and never on time. Went in with a coupon for Safety and Emissions thinking it would be smooth and they started telling me that there where some problems with the car but the could take care of it and pass the safety for another $280 !! I went to the local Auto parts store to buy the parts and do the repairs myself and the guys at the auto parts store told me to get a 2nd opinion. They said that Mel's is infamous for failing peoples Safety inspection just to squeeze more money out of them for repairs that are not needed. Turns out they where correct. I took it to another shop, paid for another inspection and .....IT PASSED!! WOW never go here. they are trying to rip you off. Paid $60 for a full synthetic oil change, and they used 5w 30 in a 4.5L V8. This was in February, and I didn't notice it soon enough to get a refund but I have put less than 1000 miles on this oil change and I will have to get it changed again. It's only useful up to 55 F, and my vehicle is already starting to overheat a month and a half later. They also cited hundreds of dollars worth of problems which I found out myself a day later to be bogus. They offered what they said was a fantastic deal on one of the repairs, and put on a whole show on how great the price was, so I called around and they were no cheaper than anyone else.
