MD MVA Another Victim Of MD MVA Glen Burnie, Maryland |
3rd of Oct, 2011 by User245346 |
I moved out of Maryland August 2009 due to hardship. I had financial problems before then due to break up of a marriage and low income. March 2005 got my vehicle straightened out to be able to comply with Government job at Fort Meade. Everything was fine until I purchased a second vehicle due to failing engine on first vehicle. Problems from previous marriage avoided me from keeping up with the first vehicle title but I was still able to get tags registration and license with second vehicle. I was only driving the new vehicle but still had the second parked until I could afford to fix the old one. MVA never said I owed any taxes or anything on that vehicle. When the insurance lapsed on the new vehicle they started charging me for both vehicles. Because of un expected charges with MD DMV I was not able to manage the situation. I eventually the bank from the second vehicle reprocessed the new vehicle. The minute I drove to old vehicle to get it to the shop I was pulled over by Police and ticketed for non insurance and registration. I was told to take the vehicle home and park it or be arrested, from that point I lost my job from not able to get to work, soon after evicted from home. Luckily I had some retirement money away from job, due to circumstances I was forced to cash in on it, I got the new car back from the reprocessed lot then after paying central collection unit 2,000.00 dollars I was able to drive legally again. From there I thought everything was clear at the DMV. August 2009, I left the State due to lack of employment. I ended up Homeless from August 2009 to March 2011. Since then I have been diagnosed with a rare lung condition which labels enables me disabled. On top of that I have two hip replacements. I thought that I was going to slowly be able to get back on my feet. Set things straight. I went to NC DMV to get my license reinstated because it had expired May 2010. From there I was told that NC could not issue me a license until I called MD. Called MD it turns out that I owe $9,000.00 plus there is a warrant for my arrest for the STATE of MD MVA for driving on suspended license and non- payment to CCU. First of all I was not stopped by any Police and charged with driving on suspended license ever. Second I never received any mail to address about charges applied to me by the MD DMV. However, August 2011, I was told by an administrator of MD DMV that until these matters are solved that there is a no way to get a new license, reinstate tags on the vehicle and or get registration. This huge liability is forcing me to have to go back to work which means I have give up my disability go back to work, sick and broken to pay off a $9,000.00 debt that MD MVA say I owe them. This is not only violation to my rights but also insane. I would like to know who’s pocket is this money going to and what my rights are in this matter. It all sounds like it an conspiracy against me because of my Gender, Race and Disability. I’d like to know that there has got to be a way for me to fight against the laws of MD DMV. I have sent letters to the Governor and Mayor of the STATE and no one is responding. I have been calling all the way up the chain and no one is listening, I am told that whatever the STATE says I have to pay, that there is no other way around it. I have to pay it in order to reinstate my license and get tags to any vehicle. This leaves no option for me but to drive illegally or crawl to work sick and in pain. None the less, without the exception if I am do not be able to get back and forth it could lead me back to where I started from; right back in a shelter again if I cannot get to a job to make money. It is not Fair and I want to fight. It is time now I will be contacting the local News and would appreciate it if anyone else is going through these similar incidents please contact me. More than one voice can help make a difference. hanks |
