Mrs Elizabeth Benson Craigslist scam Internet
3rd of Jul, 2011 by User162487
I posted two items i wanted to sell in Craigslist and Mrs Elizabeth Benson [[email protected]] This is her response:
"Thank you for getting back to me. Am okay with the price and
condition, though I'll be using the services of a mover who will come
for the pick up on my behalf because I'm currently away for a
contracting Job but I will send a Certified check through my Bank to
cover the cost. The check will be delivered to you next day air
service by a reliable courier company. Please do provide me with your
full mailing address, and also indicate your final price, the Name
that should be on check and finally a cell phone #. I will also advise
you to discard any other buyer, Kindly delete the posting because am
serious in buying it, when the Funds Clears then pick-up arrangement
follows. I will want your honesty on this because am a God fearing
person. waiting to read from you soon." It sounded weird because i asked which one of the two products she wanted and she didnt address that in the response in addition to the strange mover picking up etc... I googled her email address and a link brought me to this website. someone else reported them with a very similar description. Stay away from this people.

Has anyone actually received a check? I am stuck in the same situation from the same person. I received a check and deposited it. Not realizing this sounded weird. She had me western union the movers fee back someone and then stated the mover got intoa serious car accident, she needed me to wire transfer the rest of the money which was the amounnt of the vehicle she was buying. And she was sending me another check for the vehicle and she had a different mover who could come for it. She wants me to send the money to a doctor who was doing the operation. I'm not sure what to do. My emails are exactly the same as the ones posted above. I wish I would of googled her earlier. Its pretty scarey.

Dear Mrs. Elizabeth Benson.

I don’t know if you thought I was going to fall for your scam or you took me for stupid.

So please stop scamming people and get a real job. Keep in mind that we all work VERY HARD for our money and many of us have children to feed and educate.

I was retarded enough to fall for the scam to an extent and gave her my address and phone number after the first email. I am pretty much just fucking with her through email at this point and acting like I don't understand that she's trying to scam me. But anyways, is there anything she can do to hurt me financially with that information I gave her? Thanks - Dave

We fell for this one too. We received a $4, 950 check in the mail with our name and address on it. It was a real check and it is currently sitting in our bank with a 5 day hold on it. Needless to say, Mrs. Elizabeth Benson is no longer replying to our emails. A God fearing woman huh? We will definitely be praying for the individual's be this because God is the one they should fear.

Ok, I guess I was too late to find this site and was totally scammed by Mrs. Elizabeth Benson. I have a Tribike for sale and she was "totally good" with the price and was out of town visiting her son and as soon as she got back into town, she would arrange for pick up. She wanted the following information:

Again, since I did not find this site until later, I gave her the information and now I am a little bit nervous with all the "bad rep." Craigslist can get. Has anyone ever had issues? Help?

I got one of the same responses from 'Elizabeth Benson' for a bike I'm selling. I smelled a skunk almost right away. I get about 7 scam emails a day, anything from the usual 'legal services needed, ' the nigerian con, music teacher con, and others. They are so ridiculous, but people out there must still be falliing for these, which is why con artists keep at it. Send out 1, 000, 000 scam emails and the odds are that some people will go throught the whole charade right to the bitter end. Sheesh. My favorite game is to string them on, like 'Dennis' here. There is even a web site out there (can't remember the URL) where folks share in conning the con artists and then telling the details or posting transcripts. One of the funniest ones involved actually getting $80 in real money from the con artist! They are really dumb too it seems.

I got one of these Elizabeth Benson responses to my bike for-sale posting. I smelled a rat right away, but this thread confirmed my suspicions. How come this idiot doesn't even think to change the name he/she is using? The scammer does change the gmail account after all. As usual, caveat emptor (vendor) everybody... and never send your own money to anybody.

Scammer is still at it as of August 12, 2012. What that means is enough people are falling for this that they haven't changed their tactics. That is sad. They haven't even changed any part of this email for over 200 days.

They asked if I still had the item and when I replied yes, I got a response within 1 second. No one can type that fast ... right? They wrote the following scam:

Cheryl Bennett <[email protected]>

I replied for them to send me check for $100, 000, and gave them my PO BOX so as not to give my actual address. I was just curious if they would actually send the check or not. I know this is a scam. Every Craigslist ad I post I get some version of this scam. You would think craigslist could filter these scam emails out maybe because the email goes thru them.

beware of scam part 2:

when I tried to lure them into sending me a check for $100, 000 (which I know is a scam) they replied back from another email address:

Got 4 more of the same type of email scam last night from 4 different email addresses for the same craigslist item. There are a lot of scammers out there. I replied back to 2 of them that I wanted $200 more for the item and asked if they were OK with that. That didn't stop them. They kept replying back asking for my address, which I will not give them of course. I don't even think anyone reads the emails until someone replies back with a real address. So don't ever give them your real address.

My husband got the same thing. He gave her our name address & phone. But anyone can find that stuff out just by searching a person's name. He received the check & I went right to the bank & spoke to the fraud department, who called the bank on the check & discovered no funds available. I hate the fact that a real address was given, but like I said they can find that stuff out easy online, at least we didn't give bank info, or anything like that. Some peoples children...GRRRRR!!

they are still at it, now using alex mick. [email protected]. didnt give him any money, but did give address, didnt catch on fast enough. BEWARE!!!
