ITechLine Pretending to be Customer Service |
27th of Aug, 2012 by User95153 |
My secretary embezzled funds from my office and also stole a brand new Lenovo Laptop. I had not registered the device yet, and yet when the secretary returned it, it had already had software installed. I assumed that my secretary had registered my new Lenovo (Not ThinPad) in her name.
I had my new secretary begin the process of notifying Lenovo On Line. My new secretary called me on my cell last Friday really "upset" that she had found Lenovo Technical Service in a Google Search and they were contracting with, had referred her to ItechLine. Itechlien told her that both of my laptops and my PC had been infected and were all three full of "hacking information." My new secretary had given them access to all of my computers and all three computers were full of red lines of information indicating that I had been hacked.
I came into the middle of the conversation, thought my secretary had Lenovo on the phone, not ItechLine, gave out my credit card information for $199.00 charge per phone and then began to realize it was a scam because I kept asking for which Dept. of Lenovo could help me with registration issues and Itechline kept referring me to disconnected numbers.
I reached Lenovo Technical Service but they were "horrible" would not help me. I then contacted my bank, put a hold on all three charges changed my credit card number and am changing my checking account to a different number today.
Somehow ITechLine came up in first position or near the top for the Lenovo Technical Service Search. |

Thank you for posting this. Now I understand what happened to me too. I have a brand new ThinkPad and was having issues connecting to my wireless network. I was having a hard time finding the right customer service number (I was bounced through Lenovo's automated system several time and gave up) so I Googled and found the 'right' number. My call was answered by a woman I suspect was working Offshore, and she said "Thank you for calling Lenovo Customer Service". I explained my issue to her, she asked for permission to remote access my computer, and proceeds to show me a screen with a list of 'IP addresses currently spying on my computer'. She told me for $199 I could have her clean and safeguard my laptop, but it would take about 2 hours. Like I said, this ThinkPad was BRAND NEW. I had just turned it on that day, and had only been connected to my password protected home internet for a matter of hours. I told her she was full of sh*t and hung up. Weeks later I still can't get my Lenovo to connect with a LAN cable, but I learned on my own it's because NetGear Wireless Routers and Lenovo are not friends. NetGear cannot recognized IPs from Lenovo. I really regret having this laptop at all. |
