BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE. Well, I got a flat on June 6th in Clarendon. Bummer. I got AAA out and got home around 1AM. A couple days later, I went to Tires 4 Less to have it replaced with a used tire. Great. Here's where it all begins. I call Tires 4 Less to see how much I would save. I normally get them new, so would it be worth it? Well, he quoted me $35 and some change. Okay, I'll give this a try, I thought. I drive up and a guy comes around to my car. I tell him I have a flat on the front driver's side. He walks around to all of my other tires and starts insisting that I have THREE flat tires. Um, no. Two others were a little low on air but they are NOT flat. Nice try. I informed him of such. He said okay. I asked him if he can just plug the whole in my flat tire instead of replacing it. He mumbles and asks for my keys so he can replace my tire. Not off to a good start. I'm sitting there waiting. The guy at the desk tells me it will be $41 and some change. Well, gee, I know prices are rising and all but you guys quoted me $6 less just YESTERDAY. I made a bit of a stink. The guy ended up charging me $37. Of course, I am supposed to be terribly grateful for this "discount" even though it is still more than I was quoted. Hold on, now. It gets WAY WORSE. I try to head to the doctor this morning and guess what? That tire that they sold me barely 1.5 days ago is FLAT. I call AAA out AGAIN to have them put the spare on. The AAA guy pointed out to me where that tire had been poorly plugged before. Basically, the business plan at this place is that they have you go in with your flat, they keep your flat, plug it and sell it to someone else. I wasn't even asked if I want to keep my previous tire. I just called the place and spoke to the manager. He refused to acknowledge that they do this, though he didn't deny it. He just kept repeating that they are selling used tires and that it comes with a 1-month warranty. Therefore, I can drive all the way out there again two days later after having had to cancel all my morning plans and call AAA over again, so that I can hope that they don't give me yet ANOTHER flat tire! Well, am I going to really go there and have them do the same thing to me AGAIN? The guy would not even acknowledge that the "used" tires are those of other people who show up with flats and they just do a shoddy repair on them. Should I go and trade my flat for another flat yet again? No, thank you. I'm on my way to BJ's to get a new tire so that I don't have to go through this again. In summary, these people are straight-up CROOKS. Use at your own risk. |
