They called us to service our vacuum and said they were calling from DYSON and were going to 'tune up' the cleaner for under 20 pounds. When the engineer came he was very pleasant but after 25 minutes he came up with a bill for 150 pounds to fix my dyson when it wasn't even broken. I argued and threatened to call the police and TRADING STANDARDS as they were trying to scam us. It turns out they are not DYSON and they have been cold calling calling thousands of people making out they are Dyson to get into their homes and try it on. The following day I took the dyson back to the shop I bought from it and they said my Dyson is fine and dont allow anyone else to touch it as it invalidates the warranty. We then also spoke to one of the managers at KB Midlands Linda Scoffin who said they are authorised by Mr Dyson to actually do this. It turns out that this is a lie. On another call to Linda Scoffin she denies having anything to do with dyson and says her son Tom Scoffin runs the dyson shop next door called ASG Midlands along with her partner Simon Green . Turns out they are BOGUS. We also spoke to one of their engineers who said he's leaving the company because he is asked to lie to customers about parts and repairs to get more money out of them out of them. Shocking. Linda Scoffin is a Agent for American Vacuum Kirby Company and she is parading herself as Dyson. Lies and cover ups. Avoid at all costs. If they contact you about your vacuum hang up or get Ripped Off! |

I know these people personally and they pretend to be very nice and honest working as a company. In reality it's a very different story. They started out by ripping people off with Kirby Vaccum cleaners, which are nowhere near the hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds they charge. They do like to boast about how much money they make from their customers, or should that be victims! and also brag about the nice things they have, cars, houses etc - it's all a total scam.
If you saw Linda Scoffin in teh street you would not think she's a con artist. However, take it from me, she is a brilliant con artist. She is a low life sales person with tenacity and balls, although when the heat is on, she is so spineless as a human being, she puts her son in the firing line because she has no backbone to face the music now she's been caught red handed lying and cheating her way into your homes and being proud of the fact she makes money out of the likes of me and you.
If you read this then do yourselves a favour. AVOID these people at all costs and spread teh word that KB Midlands / ASG Midlands and TSC Midlands (Lincoln, Notts, Leeds) are a complete rip off business with crooks at the helm run by a con artist who is more than happy to rip us all off, then actually BOAST ABOUT IT!
They need to be closed down, and the best way to do that is to starve them of the business they so desperately want.
Like Rogue Traders clearly said - if they contact you, have a good think about it and (preferably) tell them to get lost!
Cheers.
A Happy Dyson owner for 10 years and never had a service or spare part! |

ASG Midlands are still trying it on! I was telephoned at about 12.30 today and gave them "short shrift" as I had heard of their operation.
Please make people aware.

Received a call on Thursday from who I thought was a Dyson telesales person and arranged a service for Saturday morning at a "Dyson special offer rate of £15.00", (clever & misleading wording) fortunately on Friday morning I got an e-mail from Dyson warning of Bogus service engineers offering such deals.
I received an answerphone message on Friday afternoon from the service company to say the engineer wasn't working on Saturday but would come out on Monday at 4:30pm & no point calling the office to re-arrange as they were finishing for the day.
I have just received another call at 4:30pm on Monday afternoon to say the engineer will arrive in 20 mins time.
I asked if the service would be carried out by Dyson, the engineer explained the Company carrying out the service would be VACSERVICING, their website refers to this company as ASG Midlands. Being fortunate to receive Dyson's e-mail & checking out the internet I think I've had a lucky escape.
Thanks to all for comments - spread the word, others may not have access to the internet.

Since being exposed as a Bogus Dyson Service Scam company ASG Midlands has renamed itself United Floor Care Ltd in a bid to sevver itself from bad publicity after BBC Watchdog uncovered their scam. The company is still being operated by the same people from the same premises as before. The operation is next door to their Kirby Service KB Midlands. Their business practices havent changed and they are just trying cover up their bad name by changing it. So ASG Ltd, KB Midlands and United Flor Care Ltd are all connected being run by Linda Scoffin and her son Tom Scoffin rogue traders gallery. |

They rang me to offer a deal to service my Kirby cleaner for £10 and a free bag and belt as well. My Kirby cleaner is 26 years old and was working perfectly. The young lad who came to service it took it to pieces, the motor, everything. I had never seen it disassembled like this before, and was concerned. He then proceeded to say it needed a new this and a new that etc, etc, so I asked how much would this cost. He rang his manager as he had left his pricing list at work. I was told the parts would come to £250, I just laughed and said I wouldn't be spending that much on a 26 year old machine. He put it back together and surprise surprise it no longer worked, he took it apart again and still no joy. He ended up taking it back to KB Midlands, and 2 weeks later brought it back. He said it had a new motor and seemed to be working. I refused to pay for the work ...had a few choice words to the manager over the phone and the young lad scurried out. Well it didn't work for long, the motor lost power and died with a smell of burning. I'm so angry as it was working perfectly before they got their hands on it...so glad I didn't part with any money. They need to be exposed for the rogue traders they are. |

We've got 2 Dysons, one of them not working at all, and I agreed to have them both looked at for £25. He dismantled them, told me what he thought was wrong with one, suggested I replace the filters on the other, reassembled them, showed me that his fix had worked, and presented me with a bill for £150. I politely said "no thanks". There was an awkward moment, before he politely said "ok", and he removed the parts.
Now, I'm sure I can get filters and replace them without too much problem, and I know what needs replacing to get the dead machine up and running. I can shop around for parts. I don't begrudge paying somenone £25 to give me an informed opinion on what needs doing, and he certainly earned an hour's worth of labour in dismantling and reassembling, not to mention driving out to my house.
Come along now boys and girls, we're all allowed to say "No" if we think sometthing's too expensive. Nobody's going to force you to have something mended if you don't want to pay over and above what you're comfortable with. Just be polite, and the worst it will cost you is a brief awkward moment.
It isn't illegal for them to cold call you, if you don't like receiving them you can opt out via the Telephone Preference Service (you'll find this also gives you licence to be rude to anyone who does call without checking the TPS first, on the grounds that the TPS protects them from you, as well as the other way round!).
It isn't illegal for people to run businesses profitably. Tesco apply a mark-up to everything they sell, as does your friendly local corner shop, as does your vacuum repair man carrying spares around the countryside in his van. Anybody working and not being paid for their time is a charity.
So... no real evidence of a scam here, just don't forget you're allowed to say "no". |

I think some people need to actually do some research, there is nothing wrong with KB Midlands and it was never shown on Watchdog. They where portrayed badly on the show by A DYSON ENGINEER because Dyson want to sell a new machine every 5 years.
If they are to sell one every 5 years companies fixing yours and making yours last longer isn't good for Dyson.
How can they be bogus when they do what they say and are not advertising to be Dyson??
There's always an motive at work people, have a think about it! |
