Oh my gosh....The same thing happend to me as well! On March 5th, I saw a Dreamhorse ad of a beautiful spotted walker mare in NC. 1000 miles away. The owner "Melissa" sent loads of videos on her. Nicely trained, spookless, healthy etc. She had her since she was 3-the mare is now 10 and listed a name of a trainer down in NC that had supposedly trained her. She was marked with temperment as a "1", not spooky, never been bred, etc etc. I have had horses and knew, almost the moment I dropped the check into the mail, that things weren't adding up. I was to send the check to her mother, Kathryn Holiday in Vale NC. Stupid, I know. But, I was sold and she sounded perfect. Well, I sent the money and then phone numbers starting to change. Never could get health papers. Coggins was drawn at a sale on March 25th. Vet never did return my calls. Receptionst told me that the coggins date was a date of a sale. Registration papers....who knows if they are really hers. She encouraged us to arrange transporation, but we didn't. We drove 18 hours, pulled up to the farm on Reepsville Road and a woman met us. Who knows who she was. I don't think "Melissa" ever existed. She pulled this malnurished, snotty nosed horse from the barn and my heart sank. It was all my husband could do holding me back from killing the woman. Long story short, we still loaded her because we felt so badly for her and with a not so nice conversation, brought her home. We quaranteed her and a month later, realized she was PREGNANT! She is healthier now, but who knows how broke she is. Rode her a couple times, but she was anxious when I would make quick movements on her back. It has taken now 3 months for her to gain weight (with the help of great friends and beautiful pastures) and get healthier. She hasn't delivered yet. She could be bred to anything. She is not "spookless" like they said and has taken a long time for her to trust us. She finally feels comortable enought to reach out for treats. She is a project. KATHRYN HOLIDAY needs to be called on the carpet. I hope no one else ever has to deal with this woman. She is a crook.
