Kaplan University Online (Davenport) Financial Aid, Transcript Receival, & Ability To Transfer As Well As Further Education Impeded Upon Davenport, I |
28th of Jan, 2011 by |
I have been a student at Kaplan University Online for a year now. Everything too seemed to be going fine for the most part until I made mention of wanting to transfer back to a more affordable local college within my area. My family has fallen under hard times and with me expecting baby number two in a little less than two months, this has proven an undesired stress. I began the initial process at the end of this December in 2010. Hoping that perhaps I might be able to get into college at the local University in my area this January.
However, I find myself facing one road block: GETTING MY OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS FROM KAPLAN!!! At the present, I do not owe the institution ANY money. In fact, I am supposed to be in excellent standing with them. Yet according to the financial aid department I am waiting on pending grants, loans, or scholarships. I have sent out various e-mails to about everyone I can in the financial aid department and received the following e-mail from them yesterday and am starting to feel very jipped or like this establishment is dragging their feet for whatever reason: Congratulations on choosing Kaplan University to continue your education! Thank you for your inquiry concerning your Financial Aid. We are experiencing a delay with your Pell Grant Award. Unfortunatley it is not posting as scheduled, and our processors are working on the issue to have it posted to your account. Once your Pell Grant DOES post, as well as you Accelerated Scholarship, your account will have a zero balance. Please allow us more time to have these funds post. If you wish to transfer schools, please contact your academic advisor and discuss this with them before the Add/Drop period ends. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us. Sincerely, Kaplan University Financial Aid Office

You can also check when funds post to your account (My Account/My Financial Aid Summary). Please allow 48 hours for updates to your student portal. The e-mail I had sent was as follows: (It was sent on January 27th, the day following that of which my financial aid should have gone through.) To Whom It May Concern, I am a present student at Kaplan who is trying to transfer, and noticed that according to my account that I would not be recieving the rest of my financial aid for this January B term at least until yesterday. Am I still to receive the financial aid or is there some form of hold? Is there a means by which I can find out so I can figure out what is going on with my financial account at Kaplan? Any information you could give me would be most appreciated. Thank You. Sincerely, Mrs. Renee **** This of course can and may cost me greatly as I have already begun the enrollment process into the school of my choice. Not to mention has made it difficult for me in terms of over all living conditions as I am wanting to move into a family living area on campus and thus this whole mess with Kaplan is really pushing me to the point where I fear going into pre-term labor or worse, having no where to live because I am wasting all my time talking to people who are dragging their feet. What should I do? |
