Kaplan University Fraudulent Financial Aid Department All Cities, Internet |
5th of Jun, 2011 by User740370 |
I have been attending Kaplan University since April of 2010. I have been experiencing extreme inconsistencies with their financial aid department since February of 2011. Kaplan was trying to charge me for money that I did not owe them and started harassing me like telemarketers during the end of a school term when all my final papers, projects and finals were due. I was told I would not owe any money if took a third class because I would receive an accelerated scholarship award if I kept a B average. The financial aid department started sending promissory notes via email which were for different amounts each day. (I have all emails saved and can prove this). When I called Kaplan financial aid e each person gave me a different reason why I owed money. I finally got someone to help in academic advising that referred me to a lady in the financial aid department. That lady audited my account and had me owing like 30 cents vs the $1200.00. Recently Kaplan sent me a check for around $500.00 dollars. I called the school on two different occasions and asked if I was supposed to have this money they said yes it was from my accelerated scholarship award. I told them really that I have a good feeling a soon as I cash the check they were going to send me a bill for it. Of course now they are trying to bill me for the money and have blocked me out. Luckily I took the summer off because I cannot deal with these crazy people. This is not normal I formally attended Missouri State University and never dealt with the stress that I have incurred with Kaplan University. I am literally in tears half of the time dealing with this school financial aid department. I have 5 classes left to complete my bachelors degree that I have been diligently working on for 5 years and this is what it has come too. I was on pace to graduate in July of 2011 but because of Kaplan financial aid department, I do not want to even finish my degree with them. There should be regulation against these for profit schools. I have four children and this degree is my families lively hood. If there are other students experiencing these same problems and would like to find a solution together please email me at . Nancy |
