K. Hovnanian Homes Summit Homes Does not honor their warranty, warranty dept employees extremely unhelpful Red Bank, New Jersey |

We had issues with our K Hovnanian home from the time it was built 7 years ago: crack in the foundation, nail pops throughout the entire house, cracks in the walls around doors. The foundation cracked before the final inspection, and we were told it had to get even bigger than it already was before they'd consider fixing it. The crack is bigger, and I can't even get a return call from the company. We called them during the first year regarding the excessive number of nail pops, and we were told they were normal; even though drywall is supposed to be covered during the first year, they made it clear they would not repair nail pops. The first year also saw ceiling separation cracks in the second story, but they would not come out and fix that, either. They managed to ignore our complaints fora year - guess what? Long enough for the drywall warranty to expire. Now they say they won't even consider the additional structural problems within the home, because the house is 7 years old. We continue to get worse drywall cracks, the foundation crack has never been fixed, and their customer service has got to be the worst I've ever encountered. The people who answer the telephones for their warranty department exhibit an unbelievably callous and apathetic attitude. Their ignoring our problems with the home until after the warranty time was elapsed is simply unforgivable, and I would recommend you never use this company to build your home. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, the state's Attorney General's office, and the consumer complaints department of all other appropriate entities. |
